anyone else not sleeping?

I just started my third trimester and I cannot sleep at night. AT ALL.

Miraculously I am not really tired during the day. I just will fall in and out of a light sleep all night long. Or just lay there, wide awake. No desire to sleep.

Is this hormonal? The body's way of preparing me for being awake with a newborn? Chat Icon

Either way, sometimes I cant sleep because I cannot get comfortable for the life of me, other times I am just inexplicably not tired...

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

I'm past 30 weeks now and have had no problems falling asleep. *Knock on wood* because I am such a cranky person if I am sleep deprived Chat Icon

I do get up like half a dozen times to pee but the bathroom is a few steps away and i am in and out like zombie. Chat Icon

I'm 32 weeks now and have been experiencing the same exact thing for a while now! And same here, somehow I'm not tired the next day. So weird. I think I get like 5 hours of sleep a night. I think a lot has to do with getting comfortable too. Sometimes I look at the clock and just wish it said at least 5am so I woulnt feel ridiculous getting up for the day. Hope it gets better Chat Icon

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

I havent had a good night's sleep since 16 weeks or so :(
At first it was just waking up and not being able to go to sleep, but now it's more about being uncomfortable also. I keep having to turn and when I do, I have to physically lift myself up instead of being able to roll over.

I'm having a hard time too...my back & hips only seem to hurt lately when I'm in bed, so whenever I need to roll over it's such a big production that I'm up for about an hour afterwards Chat Icon I've been falling asleep without a problem, but after about 2-3 hours I start waking up & I'm pretty much done for. If I get a solid 45-60 min stretch after that I'm lucky Chat Icon

This is how it is for me EXACTLY. Around 12am or 1am I wake up and get about 45 min to an hour collectively the rest of the time.

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

Last night I was awake from 1:30- 3:00 for no reason. It was one of those times when you look at the clock and think Why am I awake?

I (tried to) toss and turn, I put lotion on my itches, I got a drink of water, I threw the covers off, I put the covers back on, I went to the bathroom, nothing was helping me get back to sleep. Suprisingly I was ok at work, but I will probably crash when I get home and sit down.

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

Once I hit 36w I stopped sleeping. Since I hit 38wks last Friday I've been sleeping on the couch. Just more comfy. I do miss DH but I'm not comfy on a flat bed. DH offered to sleep in the LR with me. Chat Icon What a man! But then I'd be too worried about him not sleeping that it would just be worse.

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

At 29wks I started to have trouble sleeping about 1-2 wks ago. I am so tired during the way and I could fall asleep on the love seat and wake up in so much pain for laying in an uncomfortable position but if I go to bed I just keep tossing and turning because I can get comfortable. Its totally frustrating. Chat Icon

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

Just about 25 weeks here and I dread the nighttime. I am sleeping on my side and after a while it gets uncomfy and I have to flip to the other side. That is also fune because there is no more rolling over. Flipping is a process in itself. Plus I have been battling a cold the last two weeks. A good nights sleep is something that is not coming anytime soon. Chat Icon

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

With both pregnancies, I had sleep issues from the beginning. I wake up in the middle of the night to pee and always have trouble falling back asleep. I'm usually up for 1-3 hours in the middle of the night. It sucks.

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

Past few days I'm so uncomfy sleeping. The only position that works is like half tummy/half side on the right side. I figure as long as it doesn't hurt, it's prob ok. I use a wedge pillow too. Need more pillows. Didn't think it would be like this. At least not already- couple more weeks until 3rd tri stll!

Re: anyone else not sleeping?

I was worse with this with DC2, but this time around I wake up CONSTANTLY. Sometimes I'm up for an hour in the middle of the night.

Believe it or not, it really does prepare you for those nighttime feedings with the baby.
