anyone else have a tendency to become anemic
I've had bouts of mild anemia my whole life. I've been tested many times and there's no abnormal bleeding. But, I have a history of fibroids and endometriosis. Being on the pill has helped with the anemia because I bleed less. I was even placed on continuous birth control pills, with no period for many months at a time. I am now off the pill, thinking towards TTC. I've been off the pill for several months and I can just tell that I am anemic again. I am so exhausted. I really don't want to go for blood tests because I know what they will say. I have to start taking my iron pills again. I HATE them!!! If you suffer from periodic anemia, how do you deal with it? Does anyone here have kids and anemia? I'd be screwed if I had to take care of a child while feeling so tired.

Re: anyone else have a tendency to become anemic
do you eat alot of greens? if you have mild anemia, it may help.
i never had it before, but just recently started having low H&H levels... i'm not going to start taking iron pills or anything just yet- but i've tried to incorporate more greens and vegs to my diet.

Re: anyone else have a tendency to become anemic
I totally want to go back on the pill. My period was so bad last time, and now I'm so fatigued!
Thanks for the reminders to eat my greens. I need to take more time to think about the foods I eat.

Re: anyone else have a tendency to become anemic
I was anemic after having Kaylee and you're right, taking care of kids while being anemic is horrible (taking care of two kids under two is exhausting as it is!). I took the iron pill twice a day, along with a fiber supplement (because the iron causes constipation...sorry for TMI). It did help and I think it's the best option if you're not getting the iron you need through your diet, unfortunately.

Re: anyone else have a tendency to become anemic
I am anemic and have to take iron pills everyday.
That's really the only thing that works for me. Like someone else had said, I take fiber also to counteract the side effects of the iron.

Re: anyone else have a tendency to become anemic
Please take care of your health. I have anemia and have also been on the pill most of my life (to control bleeding). Have had many transfusions and hospitalized tooooo many times.
In the beginning of the year we decided to TTC, happy to say I'm @ 39 weeks but it has been such a rough road, a huge toll on all of us. With pregnancy your anemia will get worse, new concerns like if you need a C-Section you won't be able to afford to lose as much blood as a regular prego. Take your pills, its a small price to pay for good health. My life now consists of dr's visits 5 times a week. Shots of B12 3x's a week, hemotologist, gyno..I need a personal secretary to keep up iron pills 3x's a day, take them with OJ, helps to absorb the iron, I also take it in pill form 2X's a day, B12 in pill form, multi vitamin, fiber & colace ( you know why) the list goes on... not to mention the transfusions, I feel like a vampire!
& I'd do it all over again in order to hopefully meet my daughter next week! After birth we are already planning a regime of intravenous iron. Talk to your dr's.. make a plan, take your pills..and feel better. Everyone has a cross to bare, this is ours. Good Luck.

Re: anyone else have a tendency to become anemic
Well, I already know I need a C-section when I have kids. This is because of my previous fibroid surgery, and how extensive it was. So, yeah, I guess I have a chance of becoming much more anemic. Then again, I have plenty of time to get this under control before I even get PG. I was anemic after my fibroid surgery, but I had lost a lot of blood. And today I need Colace!!!!
