Anyone else get sick after the flu shot?
DH got the flu shot last Thursday and has been sick since Friday. DS got a half dose of the shot last Monday and has been sick since last Thursday.
I'm debating not giving the second dose to DS and not getting it at all for myself and my other DS.

Unless they got the flu mist it is coincidence. The flu shot is not live virus. You cannot get sick from it despite what people think.

Never. Its inactivated virus, you can't get sick from it. The flu mist however, is live, and you could get mild symptoms. There's a lot of stuff going around right now, is purely coincidence.

Re: Anyone else get sick after the flu shot?
I got mine a few weeks ago with no issues. I have had it a few times and never had an issue other than a sore arm!
DS hasnt gotten his yet this year but the only time he had an issue was the time I knew he was coming down with something before I gave him the shot. Then he got the shot and he was sick for the next few days but like I said I knew he was coming down with something prior to gettng the shot.

Re: Anyone else get sick after the flu shot?
My sister got the new one that is combined and has been sick for 2 days. Dizzy etc.
I just gave it to both kids this morning and now I am getting worried.
This is a new kind of shot since it is both H1N1 and Seasonal Flu. I wonder if they had a chance to check the reactions

You still cannot get sick from it. It is dead virus.

But, you can get a reaction to it which can make it seem as if you are "sick."

Re: Anyone else get sick after the flu shot?
It is probably a coincidence that they got sick. They may have been brewing something before hand. It sucks because a lot of people have this happen and then they won't get it again...My Mom had a horrible reaction to the flu shot many years ago. 105 fever, nausea, chills, cough, etc...Dr said to never get it again...She never has...And she gets the flu almost every year....I go on Thursday for mine. Had both shots last year. The flu shot while I was pregnant and the H1N1 when DS was a month old.

Exactly.
The more people I talk to, the more people I hear about that have been having a reaction to the shot. Which is making them feel ill.

I've also heard that the shot can lower your immune system and you can pick up either another virus, or a strain of the flu that isn't in the shot.

It is not a new kind of shot. Every year the flu vaccine has different strains in it as the scientists predict which strains will be the most prevalent and dangerous that flue season. The only reason you even know about H1N1 is because it was in the news a lot last year because so many people were getting sick and dying from it. It is simply another flu strain. The only reason it was separate last year was because it emerged too late to add it to the seasonal vaccine. Both my kids had the regular flu AND H1N1 vaccines last year and had no issues whatsoever.
