Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
I am--May 8th. I wish I could help you out, but I'm petrified myself--and I've already had one!
You know what though...no matter how bad or good you think the experience is, you must know that it produces an amazing outcome. As much as I personally dread getting on that operating table again and reliving most of the memories, the BEST memory I have in my life is the moment I heard, "We have a GIRL!!"
Still hoping to go into labor beforehand though

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
Yes, I'm having one. I don't know the date yet - most likely the second week of May. It's my first. I have read the book "the essential c-section guide" and it was extremely helpful. I got it from the library. It was easy reading and very informative. It has put me at ease in a lot of ways, just knowing exactly what can or will happen. Plus, I have undergone various surgeries in the past, so I am somewhat prepared.

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
Dont be scared....at least you can read up on it and prepare yourself. I never thought I would have one until the dr informed me to get ready for it and the nurse and anesthesiologist came in to explain what was going to happen and I started a little panic attack. Its not that bad....

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
I'm having one as well...don't know the date yet. I'm scared but with all the crap i've been through with this pregnancy I would rather schedule it then go into labor and them tell me I have to have one anyway. I'm not scared yet but I probably will be.

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
Don't be scared. It isn't as bad as you think. The procedure to get the baby out isn't actually that long. Stinks being in recovery but you can rest.
My word of advice is get up and get moving as soon as they will allow it. I think that is why I had such a good recovery. The girl in the bed next to me didn't get up for 2 days (she was a whiner) and was miserable and VERY stiff when she finally did.
Take the pain meds they offer you!!!

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
I will be having my first SCHEDULED section in August. This is my 3rd section though. The first was after a failed induction led to "failure to progress", the 2nd was a VBAC attempt that ended in a repeat c-section for fetal distress.
Try not to be nervous. Read as much as you can to learn about whats going to happen. Write a birth plan with things in it that you would like to happen (for example, if you want DH to be able to see the baby being born, or if he wants to cut the cord, things like that), to help you feel more in control of the situation.

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
I am a scheduled c-section - my little girl is comming April 17th - that is 18 days away
I am starting to get a little scared, but I did have an emergency one with my 1st and it really wan't too bad.
Do you know when you find out what time you need to be at the hosptial on your c-section day? I was told I don't find out until the day before.

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
I found out today that our baby is still breech so our doctor is going to schedule a c section for it looks like April 23 24 or 25. We'll know for sure next Thursday.

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
Yep. I am having mine on 8/20 more than likely (1 week prior to my due date). I prefer it so I am not playing the waiting game like I was the first time. But for first time mommies I can imagine this is tough because of the fear of the unknown. This time I know exactly what to expect.

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
Confirmed last night that Dr will schedule mine for June 4th or 5th. I am totally freaked out about it & incredibly unhappy about not being able to go natural.
I have a really bad placenta previa when the thickest part of my placenta is covering my cervical opening. Since I had bleeding through my whole frist tri the Dr does not want me to go into labor at all.

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
You will be fine! My first was a scheduled c/s (breech baby), and both me and DH were so freaked knowing that the baby would come on a certain day! But it made things easier too, planning to get things in order and be ready.
Then 3 weeks early my water broke and I had him! in the end, the scheduled c/s date meant nothing, but I liked know that I had it just in case!

Re: anyone else for a scheduled c-section?
Me, but not due for a while!
I am scared but I have heard that it is not as bad as the abdominal surgery I have had in the past. I understand the necessity for it and have come to terms with it. What scares me now is the idea of possibly going into labor before the date. I would be less prepared for labor than I will be for my C-section and labor isn't really safe for my situation.
