Anyone else a carrier for SMA? Update!
I just came back from my 14 week appt and the doctor told me that I'm a carrier for spinal muscular atrophy. DH has to get tested to make sure he isnt a carrier also. She said it's very rare, but I can't help but be extremely scared and upset. 
UPDATE!
So after what seemed like the longest wait ever, we heard from the doctor today and DH is NOT a carrier! Thank you all for your  because they worked!

I don't have any info/experience for you. Just wanted to send some I am sure everything will be fine. As long as DH isn't a carrier you guys will be fine. If it is that rare I am sure he isn't.

I am so sorry you are a carrier, everyone should know that 1 in 40 people are carriers for this disease, its not as rare as people say, When I came back as a carrier and then my husband did I nevr thought in a million years my daughter would have this horrible disease, I will pray everyday that your DH is not a carrier, I just hope every pregnant girl demands and SMA carrier test when they have there initial blood work drawn, I know because of me and my situation Dr. Haneaur now automatical does the test....I dont mean to scare anyone, but just want people to know that the carrier rate is not as rare as everyone may think.....Please contact me with any questions, I would be happy to answer

Yeah the doctor said that they just starting routine checking pregnant women at that office for the past two years. DH seems to be very calm about it so I'm trying to stay calm although inside.......
I've was researching online pretty much all morning. Thanks for the support and your daughter is beautiful, I send her my

Please do not google this stuff...it kills me when I hear ppl google medical things. It makes you more crazy!

sorry not a carrier for SMA but i did test positive for the cystic fibrosis carrier gene. It was very nerve racking waiting to find out if DH was one too so I know how you feel.. As long as Dh is not then your in the clear for all your kids. So hopefully he wont be.. Good Luck hope its a short wait.
