Anyone commute from W. Suffolk to Queens daily?
Someone I know personally, and have worked with professionally before, called me today to tell me about a job opening at their place of business.
They are going to email me info about salary and benefits package.
I think it's in a part of Queens though that it would really not be public transit friendly.
Does the commute suck for you?
I live right on the border of Nassau.
If the salary and benefits are right it may be worthwhile to consider though.
Disclaimer: I know I haven't been offered the position, just weighing the pros and cons of a commute.

If it's a good salary and you think it's worth it, go for it.
But, I have to say the commute SUCKS. A LOT. and it gets to you after awhile.

That's what I'm afraid of. I know how I get on the rare days I need to go into Queens or Brooklyn.
If it was somewhere that I could take the LIRR to and from, I think it wouldn't be as bad.

I'd have to know what part of Queens.
ETA: I commuted from Queens to White Plains for 3 years. I got used to it. Mine was a reverse commute though (to the extent that exists) and yours would not be, so it would be tough. I'd be curious to know if you could take LIRR

Rego Park. Right by where the Grand Central meets the LIE.
While we're at it, I'd also be concerned about parking over there.

Well although you will have close access to either the LIE or the Grand Central, that merge is a ****** and there is always traffic there. Parking basically sucks in Queens everywhere. Also conisder the rising LIRR fees when you think of pay if that is an option you're considering. I would honestly take a pay cut to cut my commute which is at least an hour to an hour and a half in the morning and up to 2 hours in the afternoon. But that is JMO.

I commute from Medford to Rego Park daily. I drive in the HOV and on a good day it takes me an hour, definitely doable!!! As for parking, there are parking garages where I am.

This, or to Woodside and then backtrack on the 7 to the R, about, two stops each. Good luck.

Re: Anyone commute from W. Suffolk to Queens daily?
For 2 of the years I worked for SSA I drove from Greenlawn to Fresh Meadows. Later on I switched to working in Jamaica at the payment center so that I could take the train. I liked that much better but I think that the LIRR has more delays now and more crowding than it did back then. I had a parking spot in Fresh Meadows and I would have hated it if I didn't. Look into the parking if you have not yet. It may be worth renting a spot. My office gave them to the attorneys & whoever had the longest commutes.

It's not the part of Rego park that is near the subway though. It's on the Corona border.
I used to live in Queens so I know I would have to take the LIRR to the subway to the bus.

It would just be me though so I think unfortunately I'd be stuck with the rest of the schmucks in traffic.
I'm still waiting to get the salary/benefit info and I would want to talk to them about the schedule.
It is the type of place that they may like having someone on staff for non-traditional hours (i.e. coming in later, leaving later) and maybe one weekend day.
As I think about the cost of gas (I have a mid-size crossover) and having to pay for a parking garage, plus the added stress of a commute, I think I would probably be better off staying where I am.
Plus, we have a lease. If I were to do something like this, I'd have to buy our car.
