anyone buy into this.....?????
I have heard, not sure if its an old wives tale, that depending on the babys heart rate number, you can tell whether its a boy or a girl.....
so i go for my 14w check up today..and they do the doppler,,and i ask the tech and she says "well, they say its false info, but since ive been working here, ive ONLY seen it be true" so i ask her to make an educated guess base on my lil lima beans heart rate,.. the baby was kicking and hiccuping all over the place ;) hehhee but when they got it, it was between 145-150...she then says "well, they DO say, strong fast heartbeats are girls"
my doctor then says, nah you cant tell that way it isnt accurate... needless to say they do a sono (i had some spotting) and my babys legs were spread eagle :) heheh, BUT the umbilical cord was between his/her legs!! lol so they couldnt tell..but by then the babys heart rate was also only 140..
any opinions?!?!?! im DYING to know..

Re: anyone buy into this.....?????
There was a post on here recently asking moms who already knew the sex if this old wives tale was true. It seemed pretty split.
My doc was also explaining to me yesterday that a baby's HB is not steady like ours, it goes up and down like a rollercoaster so I'd say it's a tough call depending on when you hear the beat.
My baby's HB has typically been in the 140s/150s and it's a !

I was talking to the technician about this at my sono b/c I was curious about the changes in heartrate. She said the heartrate is the fastest towards the end of the first trimester and then it plateaus. The heartrate also fluctuates throughout the day depending on whether the baby is sleeping or active, whether you recently ate something sugary, etc.
Personally, I don't buy it. 's heartrate is different at each appointment (always somewhere between 140 and 162).

140's is considered average; not rapid therefore can't really tell
dr.s will predict a girl if above 160

Re: anyone buy into this.....?????
I know one gender not the other. Baby B is a boy and the HR fluctuates from 135-145. My other baby is always around 150-155. I will find out gender either on the 17th or the 31st
