Any thoughts?

Hi All,

I'm new to the board so apologies if I misue any acronyms :)

I went off BCP towards the end of October. My cycles pre-BCP was approixmately 30 days so I figured it would probably revert to that....however, I got my period on CD 22. Weird, but I figured my body is probably trying to adjust being off BCP. In anticipation of trying to figure it all out, I decided to use an OPK....I have been testing and the line has been getting gradually darker (although it has not matched the color of the test line)...however, I did not test on Sunday and Monday (DH left to travel on business - so no point :) ) ....I decided to test again this morning for my own education purposes however and there was NO line at all....nada, zip, zilch - just the test line.

So, I was wondering:
1) do you think this was likely just a testing error?
2) does the line go away completely on the OPK after you ovulate or does the line gradually disappear just as it appears over my cycle (i.e. could I have ovulated on Sunday or Monday and that's why there is no longer any line at all???)
3) Any other thoughts? Chat Icon

I'm 34, will be 35 soon, and DH and I are trying for our first. I'm already nervous about being more on the moderate age level.....and this just added to my concern that it may be more difficult or maybe I'm not ovulating etc.

Really appreciate any thoughts! This is all new to me....never had to think about this before!

I would have still tested that day that DH was going away - you don't want to miss KNOWING when you surge. Going off BCP takes MONTHS - I know some women will tell you that they got pregnant and everything was fine that first month off - well I can tell you differently - I got preggo the first month (not on purpose) and miscarried, and the most likely cause was because my body wasn't ready to nurture the baby. I'd take this month and throw it out the window with regards to TTC, MOST docs tell you to wait THREE FULL CYCLES before TTC anyway for the reason I listed above. I would just wait until AF shows and then start over with that cycle with the OPK's and JUST for tracking reasons.

ETA: Good luck!!! When you are off BCP and regulating your cycle does some CRAZY things... even later on when you are just TTC and watching it, your cycle can do CRAZY things. It's not a fun process at all.

Thanks for the reply! Just a quick question though.....after you ovulate/surge, does the OPK decrease back down or does it just not show up at all? Sorry to be such a newbie :) I was hoping I would be one of the lucky ones who just immediately resumed their cycle after going off BCP and got pregnant. lol. ::::sigh:::: a girl can wish :)

I am not sure the answer to your question, but I know that once you get the double lines you don't have to test anymore. (At least that is what it says on the instructions.) I agree with the previous poster that you should test every day until you get two same color double lines, just for your information.

Good luck!!! I hope your cycle adjusts quickly!!

I would just take another 2 cycles, allow your body to get used to being off the pill.... Between my MC, my chem and it still just being off the pill for 8 months, my cycle hasn't been "regular" yet, every month brings new surprises!

Hi! I'm new to all this too. What I decided to do was journal all my Wondfo ovulation strips this month and compare them to next month and so on if I have to. So anyway I got my surge and have continued testing and the lines have gradually gotten lighter until this morning when it got a little darker for some reason.

My second line hasn't disappeared though.
