Any one else here paranoid about certain things?
I am generally a pretty calm person, but there are certain things that cause me TREMENDOUS anxiety and paranoia...
it sometimes effects my mood and way of being negatively, and I don't really know what to do about it...
anyone have any tricks...how do you deal with paranoia....
I hate always thinking/assuming the worst about certain things...but WHAT IF...just what if...it's true...and then I have to kill someone. (loopy eyes...I am loopy)

I drink a lot.
Seriously, I try to distract myself - sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn't.

It's me. I've only been pretending to be your friend.
Being able to distract myself depends on what's making me paranoid - if it's something that's entirely in my head, it's easier to distract myself than if it's a real life situation causing the paranoia.
I am rambling now.

When that happens, try to think about the positive things in your life and how they would outweigh this "situation"... OR think about things that could happen that are waaay worst than your anticipated tragedy...

i do get paranoid about stuff. usually - if they are things i don't have contol over - i try to remind myself that there isn't anything i can do about it, so i shouldn't worry. if it is something i have control over - i do what i can do and then try to let it go. sometimes this works - sometimes it doesn't and i stress myself out.
what is the F5?

Re: Any one else here paranoid about certain things?
I'm totally paranoid about the strangest things.
Like I constantly think that an airplane is going to fall out of the sky and hit our house. Whenever I hear a plane go by I think that.
I'm also paranoid that someone is hiding in my house all the time. I convince myself that I hear people living in my basement and then make DH check for me.
Mostly I have to distract myself with other things to get past it.
Yeah, add me to the loony club.

I get paraniod when my period is late. Or when I watch something scary - that drives me over the edge. I also get paranoid about my journal.

when you hit F5, it refreshes the page, making the "viewed" count go up.
it is a torture technique used by some LOL...usually prompting a 250 views and only 2 responses type outcry

Re: Any one else here paranoid about certain things?
I realized today that I am very paranoid about safety.
this morning I thought my dh was going to be in some kind of danger (and not from me) and I couldn't get rid of it...so now I am torturing him HA
and yesterday I went to curse my brother (in the sweetest way possible) outloud for not calling me for my birthday, when I realized that something terrible could happen to him at any moment (he's a fireman) and I'd have put that "malevolence" on his head.....
yeah..I am a super and smart chick, but I can dream up just about any horror scenario you can think of.

WTH?? 1400 views? I missed a lot when I was working.
I am not a paranoid person. Sometimes I worry but most of the time I simply say "I don't give a tiny rats asss"

Re: Any one else here paranoid about certain things?
Well, I have an anxiety disorder that I take medication for, but I also have been going to a counselor and what has been helping me is to remind myself that I do not need to panic unless there is a VALID reason to panic. Be logical about stuff - reason it out in your head. Hope that makes sense...
