Re: Any LIRR updates?

Did any of you guys try today? I bailed and I'm so happy I did. My friends and coworkers waited on the platform fr HOURS and couldn't get on a train.
My DH got there and back from Bellmore without a problem, aside from the trains being packed like sardines. His friend couldn't get on at Merrick, and had to wait for the next train, but our friend got on at Baldwin without a problem.

Re: Any LIRR updates?
The updates I received today (on the lines I have emails about) - LIRR is on a holiday schedule this evening.
There will be no trains from Far Rockaway to Valley Stream. Bus service is replacing that and you can take the train from VS.
Very limited service (every 70 minutes) from Jamaica to Atlantic Terminal.

Really? What time? My friend was at Bellmore at 830 and waited til 930 when she gave up. 2 trains came that were packed to the gills where she couldn't get on...

Re: Any LIRR updates?
LATEST UPDATE: MTA Long Island Rail Road expects to operate near-normal AM Rush Hour service on Wednesday morning, December 29, with the exception of bus service being provided in place of train service east of Ronkonkoma on the Main Line and east of Speonk on the Montauk Branch.
If you're not sure keep checking LIRR.info and sign up for the emails!

DH was there at 7:30. It sounds like it got worse as the morning went on! Hopefully tomorrow will be better for everyone, since they are running an almost normal schedule.

I worked from home yesterday and am glad I did. One of DH's co-workers got on the train at Massapequa and got one of the last seats. He said at Seaford people were screaming and banging on the windows of the train because they couldn't fit on. My train was EMPTY this morning.

Mine too, I guess people gave up.
We did get stuck at Jamaica because part of our train broke off and they needed to reattach is, but we were on our way again pretty quickly. I was at work by 915.
No complaints!
