Any experience with pediatric orthopedic physicians?
I was referred to Dr.Terry David Amaral at Cohen's (LIJ) or Dr. John Gaffney at Winthrop. Anyone have any experience with either? I have to bring one of my 2yr old twins to have her foot/leg looked at. It turns in and I was told if it didn't straighten on it's own by 2, that she should be looked at.
TIA!!

Re: Any experience with pediatric orthopedic physicians?
I brought my DD to Gaffney for the same issue when she was 3. It was downplayed and I was told she would outgrow it. Ped kept saying the same thing. At 5, it is worse and we went to see Lazar in the same office and finally started PT.
Not that you asked this but go with your gut. I KNEW it was something she wouldn't just outgrow but I let doctors convince me otherwise. I wish I had pushed to start PT sooner!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I noticed it when she started to stand but since she wasn't walking yet, they suggested waiting. She was also my breech baby of the two (twins) and said that her position in the womb could have been a factor. I still tried to keep on top of it and ask at every chance and was assured she would outgrow. Prior to their two year visit, I had last asked at the 18 month appt. the Dr. checked her hips (just a physical exam) and said she's completely fine but lets see if there is no change by 2. So here we are...
i will make an appt. with Lazar!
Thank you so so much for your feedback!

Re: Any experience with pediatric orthopedic physicians?
weve been seeing Dr Jon Paul DiMauro a Cohens for 2 years now since my dd was 2 weeks old. She was born with club feet. He is amazing.

Thank you for your feedback. I have an appt. on Aug. 1st with Dr. Lazar. I guess we'll see how that goes and take it from there. I'll keep this info in mind though. Thanks again!
