Any babies not want to try real food?

Mason still refuses to try anything, but baby food. I'm not too concerned b/c he does gain weight and gets his nutrients from his formula. He only likes some types of babyfood, but he will NOT try anything else. He will close his mouth so tight if I try to give him a puff or anything I would eat cut up small.

I even tried a real banana and he hated it. I thought he'd love it b/c he loves the babyfood banana. If I give him something that's too thick he gives me the "I'm going to gag" or"choke" face.
He's only 8 months so he's still young. Just sounds like a lot of babies on here are on puffs and other regular food.

BTW... I do give him the teething bisquit and he loves that. The only thing he'll try. I'll eat puffs or whatever else I'm giving him... he'll watch and smil then if I share he shuts his mouth and shakes his head No. Chat Icon

Did you try the gerber cheese curls? DS LOVES those. Does he like yogurt?

Yup... he won't even acknowledge them on the tray. I had a friend over yesterday who's son is the same age... he was picking up and eating his own puffs. Mason watched and then refused his. Even when I put one by his mouth he made it well known he wants nothing to do with it.

haven't tried the curls b/c he won't let me put anything in his mouth unless it's on the spoon. He does love the yogurt though.

Funny thing is everything else goes in his mouth, but food Chat Icon

Re: Any babies not want to try real food?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. My DS didn't start picking up food until a few weeks ago. (He is 10 months, almost 11 months). He would eat the teething biscuits with no problem, but when it came to small food like cheerios, he refused. If I put one in his mouth, he would eat it with no problem. He likes so many table foods, but I always had to feed it to him. Then all of a sudden one day, he picked the food up off his tray. I was feeling the same as you. I'm starting to realize that some kids just develop certain skills before others. Just keep trying and evenutally he will get it.

Nikolas is 16 months and still eats baby food. He'll eat puffs and fries that I bake in the oven but that's it. He has major texture issues and vomits from a lot of foods. Getting him to eat regular food is like pulling tetth.

Thanks all! I know I shouldn't be too concerned. Just sounds like all these other kids are on puffs and regular food and Mason refuses to even try a puff.
