Antiobiotics while on BCP?

Antiobiotics while on BCP?
Anyone ever hear of someone getting preggo while taking antiobiotics on BCP? I know the dr. always says use another form of BC but how ineffective does it actually make the pill, and is it ineffective for the entire month, or just during the time that you are on antibiotics? TIA!

My doctor always tells me to use a back up method for the rest of the month when I take antibiotics. I haven't personally heard of anyone getting pregnant because they took antibiotics while taking BCP, but I guess it can happen so that's why they tell you to be careful. HTH.

This happened to my sister! It definately can make the BCPs ineffective. Not all antibiotics, but some -- ask your pharmacist.
