DH gave me my first LV bag as my wedding gift. All of our wedding cards and RSVP's are in the box from the bag 
I have a box that was from a gift from DS' shower. All shower, birth, baptism cards are in there.

I saved the wedding card from my parents b/c my dad wrote a beautiful letter. Any occasion cards, b-day, anniversary, showers etc. stay on the mantle for a week and are tossed.

I have the wedding cards in a box and put away so I can't see it.
For Mason's 1st b-day I only saved a few cards and chucked the rest.

I saved the ones from my parents, In-laws and grandparents. The rest got thrown in the garbage. I can't stand so much clutter.

I only save a card if someone writes an especially nice note in it for us or Sean -
If it's "To Sean" - "Love XYZ" I see no need to save 500 cards !!
