so what we do is basically justChat Icon every other day..cause im hoping maybe i will find lightning in a bottle...

so here is my question..i have loooong cycles..i have not gotten my period since sept 14th..and i keep buying pg tests and of course they r neg..but this is getting expensive lol..

i know its pretty impossible cause my cycles r so erratic and long but if u had a average of 45 day cycless..when would u test..what day..

i never know when af is coming..she just comes whenever and i never have a dpo cause i dont think im o'ing

i know the pg tests r pointless but i do them anyway..why i have no idea lol..but when would u test

am i making sense..sorry i raambledChat Icon

Re: another testing question..

i believe you would test the same day as your longest cycle... if your longest cycle was 45 days then you test on CD45... and it should be accurate...

Re: another testing question..

Unfortunately I have no real help with when to test, as I had the simliar problem, about 37-45 day cycles. I was prescribed Clomid to help ovulation, as it seems that is what my problem was. My first cycle on Clomid was 31, then 30 and has been pretty consistant since. I researched and found that clomid can help regulate cycles so hopefully this will be the case for you. If it is then I would test about 10-11 days after smiley. Good luck and hope yuo get your bfp soon. Chat Icon

Re: another testing question..

do you temp? it would actually be helpful to you because then you would be able to trend and see when or if you ovulated based on your temps, and then if you sustain your temps after ovulation, you can assume that you are pregnant and test. Have you read taking charge of your fertility? it;s a good reference to teach you about temping. temping is a big commitment because you have to be diligent in doing it everyday, but in my opinion, so worth it!

Re: another testing question..

Hi Gina!

That's what we were doing the first two months this year to TTC. Basically BD every other day. There was just no way to tell what was going on in my body.

My first two cycles were 34 days, which is nice and "normal"ish and I was super excited. But in the past two years since going off BC, most of the time my cycles would switch back and forth between 34 days and 59 days.

In March (3rd cycle), I felt "off" and also found a lump in my breast around CD36 or so so I called my GP and also took a HPT but it was a negative. I went in to see her and she did a blood test on CD42 (April 9) and it was also negative for pregnancy. She told me she thought the lump (which was about the size of an eraser head) was just because I hadn't gotten my period yet and that it would clear up as soon as my period came. She wasn't concerned about it because it actually hurt, believe it or not.

Well, I kept on keeping on... as I've said in another post we weren't really TTC anymore at that point because it's around when we found out about my MIL's cancerous brain tumor and our minds were elsewhere, so we weren't going every other day anymore...

After two surgeries and a month of treatment, MIL said we should go on our previously scheduled trip to Ireland rather than paying hundreds of dollars to try to change it since she was out of the hospital. Around CD56 I got what I thought was my period, the day before we left for Ireland... stuck in a liner, packed my AF supplies for a week and off we went...

Only I never actually got my period.

We came back and I tested on the day after mother's day (May 10) and got a positive on the digital in about one second after peeing on it. I was fairly shocked. It was CD62.

Turns out I had conceived around CD47 according to the OB at my first appointment at 8 weeks.

I feel like when you're irregular, you just NEVER know! I only actually took two HPTs in that whole cycle -- the one in early April when I found the lump and felt "off" and the one in May after we got back from Ireland. I have no idea how much earlier I could've tested and got a BFP.

As impossible as it is, just kinda waiting and seeing seems to be the only thing a person with irregular cycles can do. In a way, going for the blood test in early April narrowed down the time frame when I could've gotten pregnant since my GP said I could've been up to 4 days PG and still had the negative blood test. It appears I may have gotten pregnant just a few days after that blood test though. I think it was just crazy amazing luck. We were already doing so much praying for my MIL, it was almost like a way to remind us about how life keeps going. She is so excited about this grandchild coming soon even though it's going to be her third. I get really emotional when I think about it, and I'm so glad we're giving the baby her name for a middle name. Sorry I'm going off on a huge tangent!

If there's any way I can help, please let me know. I don't know what I can do for you, but I hope I've given you some hope! I have no idea if/when I've ovulated since going off the pill since I never temped or successfully used OPKs (I tried in January but the 7 days I picked were too late since AF came at 34 days not 59 oops).

In a way, it was kinda cool not finding out until 6 weeks along since it meant less time to wait for my first OB appointment... for whatever that's worth... So much love and baby dust to you!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: another testing question..

gina, since you will be monitored on the clomid your doc should be able to pinpoint exactly when you will ovualte or give you a window.

that's what happened to me. I tried to temp but would forget and then i would analyze my temps and it just made me crazy. i had an appointment with my RE after i finished the five days of femera to see if it worked. I guess to see if i had an egg??Chat Icon when i went he said everything looks good and you should ovulate within the next 36 hours. So we got our green light to Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon .

the Re also said that if I wanted to force the ovulation, he could give me a trigger shot. I opted not to do that. I figured i would see what happens.... and this Chat Icon happened!!!!

calll meeeeee if you need anything!!!!!

awww thanks!!!

I had the same problem as you actually! wouldn't get my period for months, kept taking preg tests that were negative. gained weight practically overnight it felt like. then one day I told my OB i had enough, and wanted answers. I asked her to send me for hormone testing and an ultrasound, which showed that i had PCOS, and showed that i had major hormone imbalances. After seeing that, we knew what to do: i went on the pill for 6 months to replace my estrogen that was lacking, and i went to a nutritionist to lose weight. There are many studies out there that prove that even MILD weight loss will cause someone to start ovulating regularly, and help regulate your hormones. Once i lost weight and came off the pill, i started temping, and then once i saw that i was in fact ovulating, i bought a CBEFM and the rest is history! If you have any questions, FM me! but there is hope, you need to make sure you have an OB that you can trust and talk to. And if you need anything, let me know xoxo
