Another SAHM spin-off regarding jobs

For those who had moms that stayed home and then went back to work later, what kind of jobs did they do? One of my concerns is that in certain professional circles if you are out of the market for a while and want to come back it's difficult.

my mom was a teacher before she had me and my sister...she did not go back to work until we were in school, she went into the insurance field

I've been an Executive Assitant for years, but have recently been promoted and taken on an entirely different field of finance and budgets.

My mother went into her own business as a Home Health Care provider.

I would have a hard time going back into my field since i was in marketing/sales/Account management... but it's still doable.

My mom was/is a Registered Nurse.

She worked at Huntington Hospital in the OR and left when she had me.

When my sister and I were around 7/8, she started working PT (weekends) at a nursing facility. She eventually went FT and became a Director there.



I was going into Law Enforcement when I got pregnant. Odds are that career choice is over for me now.

Before my parents had kids, my mom worked in the "payroll" department of Bell Atlantic (Verizon). She was only 23 when she had my brother. Once my brother & I were in school, my mom went to work as a Teacher's Aide...

My mom started as a home health care aid- they are always in demand, but it is a very physical job.

My mom was a teacher-- she taught for a few years before my brother was born, then stopped working all together. She started to slowly go back to work as a semi-permanent sub when I was like in 5th or 6th grade-- during the time when my parents started going through the divorce process. By the time I was in 6ht or 7th grade-- she had a FT teaching job.

My mom was a nurse. She stayed home and raised all 6 of use before gong back to work. SHe made sure her license was up to date, sent out her resumes and got a job.

my Mom was a secretary before she had me & my sisters. she was out work for 16 years. she went back to work doing something similar as what she did but soon after became the office manager.

ETA: just wanted to add that a lot of people seem to think they can go back to work PT. you should check and see b/c a lot of companies in the corporate world do not offer that as an option. my former company did not, and they were a very mom-friendly company (Montessori daycare on premises) and other provisions for moms.

My mom was a teacher. She taught before my sister was born, took off for the next 15 years or so, until I started Kindergarten (we're 11 year apart), and then went back as a sub, then became full-time.

She was in banking before me and then when I was 5 or 5 she got a job with the Board of Ed as a Para-professional and works with severly and mentally retarded kids.
