ANOTHER PIO complaint!
I'm sorry to keep posting about this, but I'm having a really hard time with the PIO.
I mentioned before that I'm having the following problems:
1- red, bumpy rash all over my behind
2- extremely itchy where rash is
3 - very painful on one side (left) and not on right
Well last night we decided to do the right side (2 nights in a row) as we've been doing (2 right, 1 left) and it was the most painful it has ever been. I was literally crying and I feel that I have a pretty high tolerance for pain! It BURNED and it did not stop burning all night long (I could barely sleep). Also, when DH pulled the needle out (he checked earlier), blood spurted out all over my bed!! It looked like a CSI crime scene in miniature version.
I used the heating pad for 30 minutes and then ice (for the itching) and I could feel something ODD in the middle of the night. When I woke up this morning, my entire butt cheek was HARD AS A ROCK. I'm not just talking lumps here and there, I mean literally the size of my entire hand (palm to fingertips) and there's still the red, bumpy rash but the rest of the area is white looking and hard. I could barely sleep because it was burning throughout the night and I could not sleep directly on that area.
Any advice for me?
I am planning on calling Dr. B's office as soon as they open to see if he can see me and figure out what the heck is going on!

Re: ANOTHER PIO complaint!
are you warming the PIO before injecting? also try icing the area for 5 minutes beforehand. unfortunately that all sounds pretty normal for PIO. just avoid that side if you can for a few days to give it time to heal. good luck!

Re: ANOTHER PIO complaint!
is it possible that you re hitting a nerve when you inject it? or are maybe not doing it in the right spot? I always had my doctors office draw a "bullseye" on my backside so my sister (the one who was doing my shot) knew where to go.
Although it was not the most pleasant experience I was never in that much pain where I was crying. I am so sorry this is happening. Hopefully Dr. B will have an answer for you. Good Luck!

Re: ANOTHER PIO complaint!
Thank you girls. This is definitely not a normal reaction. I've been on PIO for 5 other cycles, including for 10 weeks during my pregnancy with DC and I have never had anything like this before.
I spoke with Sandra and she said I might be having a reaction to the sesame oil, so she's going to order me the progesterone in olive oil to see if it makes a difference.

I hope the new progesterone helps!!
I had a problem once with the type of progesterone suppositories they gave me so I switched to Crinone and was fine!! (I know, TOTALLY different from PIO) ... but my point is, sometimes all you need is a different type of the same thing (I just reread that- "different type of the same thing" and I think that's my favorite quote of the day

hahahaha! I had a reaction to PIO over my entire body. They sent me to the derm around the corner from Dr. B. I had been on PIO before but never had any allergic symptoms and it came about 2 weeks or so after I had been on it. Definitely try something else.

Re: ANOTHER PIO complaint!
It could be that you are allergic to the PIO you have. Try for something else but for the hard spot I found that if I used a hot wash cloth as hot as I could stand it for a while warmed the PIO but not hot and then once DH injected I massaged the area I didnt get the hard lumps.
The rash I got in the beginning but it went away.

Re: ANOTHER PIO complaint!
Thanks everyone. I have been doing the progesterone in olive oil for 3 nights so far and it's going really well.
NO burning, no itching, no rash, only mild pain during injection (none afterward) and just lumps... no flattened hard spots or anything weird!
