Another Fios ?
I WANT IT.
Why is it only available in some towns and not others? anyone know if they plan to add more towns and possibly when?

It's very expensive to put in and takes time to install and drop cables. They are looking to expand it's just going to take some time. I am in FL and their is one town that part of it has FiOs and part of it doesnt.
They just started to lay the FiOs wires by us and it'll probably be a few months before we can have it in our house.
If you go to Verizon.com their is a section for FiOs and you can add your email address for them to let you know when it's in your area.
My DH works for Verizon and is a FiOs tech so if you have any questions you can FM me

As the previous poster said, it is a lot of work to lay all that wire and takes a long time. Once you start seeing trucks in your neighborhood with the wiring, it will still take a few months for it to become available.
As far as the tv portion of fios, that takes even longer b/c of all the licensing they have to do.
What town do you live in, I am on extended maternity leave, but I work for verizon and can try to find out for you...no promises though

I'm in Valley Stream and it's available, but warning to all - FIOS' customer service is terrible. I argue with them every month about overcharges and taking money directly out of my bank. I can't wait to get rid of them!

I am in Islip Township but in Ronkonkoma, we just got it a few weeks ago. The service itself is great, but beware of the independent contractors who sell the packages for Verizon, they are VERY misleading. Also Verzion needs to get on the ball regarding the charges. I was overbilled by almost $70 this month

Also, some streets in some towns get it later than others. I've had it for a few months now in Ronkonkoma. We had our old phone line running behind the house to the pole. When they ran the FiOS, they had to run it to the front of the house, and across the street, since the pole in the front had FiOS, but the poles behind us didn't, so any neighbors on the street behind us can't get it yet.....

I am still waiting to see if anyone knows when its coming to your town.
Honestly, I know everyone is saying on so many threads that customer service is horrible. Unfortunately, sometimes its less than great, but like any company, there are representatives that are less than helpful.
Unfortunately, for me, I work in this department and get disappointed every time I read these comments from everyone. This job is beyond demanding and stressful and sometimes its not a fun company to work for.
I don't trust the independent contractors that come door to door selling Fios, they tend to tell you whatever it takes to make you place the order. They don't work for the company (basically, they drop them off in different neighboorhoods and they just go door to door.
Sorry everyone seems to be having so many problems, its realy a great service.
