you convinced me not to cash it (thank you!)

but the only option it gives me is to apply it to my principal.

will $700 make a real difference?

or should i contact the bank and see if they can put it back into my account for next year?

You don't have to apply it to your principal. Contact the bank and tell them you want to put it back into your eskrow account

Ugh...I wish I would've asked on here when I got a $3000 escrow refund last year.

I am currently paying it back. My mortgage went up $300 a month between that and taxes

When I called them after receiving the check they told me they were legally required to issue a refund.
