Another bidding vent!!!!! Update!
I bid on a home yesterday morning, that has been on the market since march, needs a completely new kitchen. I started at 20K lower than asking and the agent said NO WAY. Then I went to 10k lower than asking- he still hasnt called me back with an answer if the owner ( his dad) accepted it or not He said that his dad really wanted full price offer since he already lowered the price a few times. I thing my offer is FANTASTIC considering the kitchen aspect and the fact that is been on the market for 9 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a example of a non serious seller- Im po'd and I wish he would just let me know already...
Update: he countered at 900 below the asking price are you effing kidding me? Wait it gets better, We said our absolute best would be 5k more. He said that he "thinks" that he could get it done if I WAVE my real estate comission ( Im an agent so I would get commission back at closing) This guy is trying to nickel and dime me.I told him I would call him back- now Im going to make HIM wait. Maybe he'll have a revalation about things by the next time we talk.

Re: Another bidding vent!!!!!

i dont know what it is that people put a house up for sale at a certain price and EXPECT to get asking.

Re: Another bidding vent!!!!!
what do you mean the agent told you no way? the agent is obligated by law to present every offer to the seller. if you offered $1, that would have to be presented.

Re: Another bidding vent!!!!!
I think that some sellers don't want to move they just want the $$$ and so they won't lower their prices based on the home condition. They're just greedy.

couldnt have said it better myself lauren!
the agent cant make that decision for the seller regardless of whether or not its his father. but since its his dad he probably knows what he's going to say and what price he's looking for.
did u make the offer thru the agent directly or do u have ur own agent? if u have ur own agent they can ask for a conference call between them and the seller himself. that way they can reason with him and explain more clearly that the house needs a new kitchen. good luck!

well the owner is his father. so he knows what his price in mind is.I know that the official rule is to present all offers but many times agents dont follow this rule esp when its a family or friends house.

Im an agent... Im working for myself which is why I know that it is a good offer- we really want the house but the other agent is kinda being a jerk...He said he would get back to me in a couple of hours its been a day an a half and no phone call. I dont want to call just yet and seem over eager kwim?

I couldn't have said it better! I know how you feel - it's like people want to sell their home, but not willing to negotiate with a buyer in this market. As everyone has told me, there are better homes and your dream home is waiting out there for you!

Re: Another bidding vent!!!!!
I' so sorry. Fingers crossed they take the 10K less offer. After 9 months, better offers aren't going to come by.

this is JMO, but it's a sign to move on. he knows he's got you and I think that's very bad business.
there are 10's of thousands of houses for sale around here.

I agree.
One of the first rules of bidding is being able to walk away. Keep the upperhand and walk. I can't imagine how the closing process would go if he's this stubborn now.
Good luck...
