Angie's List?

Anyone use this site? What is your feedback, I don't want to pay for if it's going to be a hassle to cancel or isn't worth my time...

I signed up, then got annoyed I had to pay for it. So I have no answers.

I signed up because I've been doing a lot of renovating, but found that it's been useless. Every time I went to search for something I couldn't locate the trade I needed. Example. I wanted a mason for brickwork - like building a chimney. Searches for Masons all turned up landscapers who did simple masonry related to landscaping, but nothing more complex. Plus, there were virtually no listings for trades of any sort in my area - plumbers, electricians, tilers, etc. I finally added some to help other searchers, but it takes soooo much time to do that.

Along with no brick masons, the list has no category for geothermal heat, yet that's a hot topic for those trying to go green. I ended up doing better by searching on line.

The list is a great idea, but doesn't have enough references, at least in Suffolk, to be useful.

I would highly recommend NOT using it.

My boss hired a contractor from there, he came "highly" recommended with excellent reviews. The guy is a complete scam artist, he has totally screwed my boss over, wants more money, his workers cracked the tile that was installed in the bathroom, said he could do part of a job, which he started and then said he couldn't do and didn't finish it, it's been nothing but a nightmre.

A friend told me that anyone can go on and put great reviews on there as long as you sign up.

I think it's better to get a recommendation from someone who has used someone else before.
