Anatomy Scan - how long does it take? *Update*
*Update* Well it only took about 30 min this time! I, shockingly, didn't even need to take an extended lunch break for it. Unfortunately the tech couldn't see  heart because of their position or gender (w/certainty) because of the position of the cord so I do have to go back for another sono next week, but overall it was really quick this time!

Sorry if this has been asked recently, but can someone please let me know how long a typical anatomy scan takes? I'm going during an extended lunch hour today, so I'm just trying to get an estimate of how long I may be (barring any issues!).

mine was about an hour and baby was generally cooperating. If baby isn't playing nice it can be hours

I didn't have mine yet- but I went with my sister to hers and it took about 45 minutes to an hour.

Thanks. When I had it done w/my son back in '09 it took forever. On top of his not cooperating, they saw some potential issues with his umbilical cord & his kidneys. I had to go back for a 2nd appt w/a specialist in the end...I'm hoping it's nothing like that again

Did you have the full anatomy scan done at 20 weeks yet? That one is a lot longer than the usual sonos...

Yeah my usual sono's are only like 5 minutes if that. So the anatomy scan was longer but still only 15 minutes. This is my first so I didn't know what to expect but from talking to other people I realize my sono's seem really short.

Mine was yesterday and was about 45 minutes. They have so much to measure - 5 different measurements of the heart, the brain, the legs and arms, bladder, kidneys, spine, eyes, etc...the baby kept flipping and was facing my placenta laying on his arm so it took a while to get him to flip back around

Mine was about an hour and a half each time because I have uncooperative children.
The second one was frustrating since I was supposed to just lay there while they did it and was not allowed to watch.

With DS, my anatomy scan was about a half hour. I fully expected it to be longer, but baby was cooperating well and in good position and they were able to check every single part of him.
Mine is coming up soon and I will also be going during lunch - hopefully baby will be cooperative!!!

Yay for the update! I have to go back in a few weeks too because baby's head was in a weird position and they couldnt get good pics of his head.
