An amazing story that I wanted to share
My grandfather (on my Dad’s side) was in the Jewish Brigades which was a part of the British military during WWII. After WWII ended, he joined the “Haganah” and was part of the Mossad. He was involved in all kinds of heroic acts including helping displaced Jews find their families, teaching them Hebrew and bringing them Israel (then known as Palestine).
He was killed in 1946 and laid to rest somewhere in the Netherlands near the border of Belgium. My Dad has only visited his grave once, in 1971 and couldn’t remember the name of the cemetery or town. A friend of his mother’s took him there, she is now deceased. My Dad took 1 picture of the headstone which he gave to his Mother. She passed away in 1986 in Israel and no one knows where this picture is.
DH and I will be in Amsterdam in 2 weeks and have been doing research for the past few days trying to find where he is buried. There are literally 100’s and 100’s of cemeteries in this area.
Well this morning we had a breakthrough! I sent an email last night to the mayor of a small village in the Netherlands asking for assistance and he directed me to a website where we found everything! Right down to the row and plot number!
I am ecstatic! Words can’t even express how I felt this morning, and still do  and my Dad... he is beyond touched.
Needless to say we are going there and I will do a "rubbing" of the headstone for my Dad

he was such an amazing man and his life was cut short at 32.

What a wonderful story!!! Wow, I can't believe you dad was a part of Hagadah and the Jewish Brigade!
You are rightfully proud!
Have you ever read Exodus? If not, you should! It is a book about those time and the Jewish movement for the state of Israel and helping displaced Jews all over Europe come back to the motherland! Wonderful book!

it was my Grandfather.
my Dad has a copy of Exodus with Paul Newman (1960) which I will probably watch when get back from our trip.
