American Horror Story Season 4 Set at a Carnival, According to Writer
Dont know if i could handle that! Im sure there will be clowns
Ladies and gentlemen, step right up to the American Horror Story carnival! After months of speculation, American Horror Story writer Douglas Petrie (sort of accidentally) spilled the beans in a Nerdist podcast.
When a fellow podcast guest said she heard the new season was set at a carnival, Petrie confirmed. "Yes," Petrie said when asked if it was set at a carnival. "It doesn't have a title, but that's the idea. Very roughly, that's the idea."
Viewers had been speculating the new season would take place at a circus of sorts, but those rumors had been shot down. They just weren't specific enough with their guesses?
Regardless, this could bring American Horror Story to new heights. Clowns? Sideshow attractions? Deadly carnival rides? Seriously, prepare yourselves because clowns may be involved.

We know Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson are involved in the new season, but that's about it. Series co-creator Ryan Murphy previously teased to The Hollywood Reporter that Lange "has always wanted to play a Marlene Dietrich figure, and now she gets to." And then there's what he told Entertainment Weekly: a 1950s setting and accents! "If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece," Murphy told EW. "We try and do the opposite of what we've done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I'm very excited!"
As for Paulson, she told Vulture that she's working on "something." What exactly? Not an accent, but a "special skill. A very special skill." Fire breathing? Sword swallowing? It could be anything.
Request for confirmation was not immediately returned. American Horror Story will likely return in October 2014.Link

I was so disappointed with season 3, so I'm hoping this one will be better. I'm petrified of clowns (seems like many of us are), but after seeing that it takes place in the 50s, I'm wondering if there will be any. I think it may be more freak show style; at least that's what I'm hoping for!

I'm watching it! Hopefully it will be better than season 3
Season 1 was hands down the best, season 2 was great also. However, Jessica Lange said in an interview that season 3 was her last season on AH. She's done! I always looked forward to her in the following seasons. She was so amazing in all 3 seasons.

If you are scared of clowns you HAVE TO watch!!! It is called American HORROR Story... its fun to be scared!
(this being said by the girl who snuck into the living room and hid behind the couch while her parents were watching Nightmare on Elm Street so I could watch it too when I was like 10 - I love horror stuff!)

every year she says she's leaving & she always comes back.... I think she likes to make Ryan Murphy beg and be on his knees for something other than, well you know....

I'll give it a try. I stopped watching last season's due to the rape scenes...it was just too much for me to see.
I love freaky old-timey carnival stuff so this should be fun.

I LOVE to be scared - watching on mute with closed captioning... I LOVE it.
I loved Asylum. I love to be creeped out. That's what I'm hoping for with this season.

Guess I am out. Loved season one and the last season. But hated season two. The asylum was not interesting to me. Not really interested in a carnival theme either.

Clowns just don't scare me.
Not much does actually.
I mean real life stuff does, but not much in a movie or TV show is going to scare me to the point that I can't watch something as a grown adult.

I can't get over how many people say they won't watch because it may have something SCARY in it! 
Meanwhile, I'm watching season 1 right now on Netflix and I literally run and jump into bed every night after I turn out the light because I'm terrified that my house could suddenly become haunted.

If you do not have a paralyzing fear of clowns (like I do & a few other people on this thread) there is no way in hell we can't just buck up and watch. Speaking for myself, I just cannot handle clowns LOL
