Amazon Key?
https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=17285120011
If you had the necessary hardware and setup, would you sign up to let Amazon (via FedEx and UPS) put your packages inside your house?
What happens on delivery day? On delivery day, you’ll receive a notification in the morning with a 4-hour delivery window for when the delivery driver will arrive at your home. Right before the driver arrives at your door, you will receive an “Arriving Now” notification and you can optionally watch the delivery happening live. The driver will knock first and then request to unlock your door with their Amazon handheld scanner. Amazon verifies that the package belongs to the address and the driver is near the door, turns on Amazon Cloud Cam and unlocks your door. No special codes or keys are given to the driver. The driver will then place the package just inside your door and request to relock the door. Once the delivery is complete and your door is relocked, you’ll get a final notification and can watch a video clip of the delivery.

Re: Amazon Key?
i can see why people would like it- if your packages get stolen off your porch, but i wouldn't be comfortable with that to be honest
I feel like it's just something else for hackers to hack and next thing you know they will figure out how to hack it and have access to your locks. No thanks

Re: Amazon Key?
I was looking at the email I got about this just today. No thank you. I'm ok with my packages getting left on my porch. I wonder if they will incentivize it somehow or whether they will limit their liability (eg lost/stolen package) for those who don't use the service.

Amazon Key?
No way for me. If its anything THAT important that I'm having delivered, it will come to my job. Otherwise I'll just contact Amazon or dispute with my CC.

There's already a bunch of Internet connected locks out there that people can open with their phones. I think the locks that Amazon is pairing with are ones that have been out and installed for quite a while now.
Not that it changes the threat of hacks, just that it's already in place, and I'm sure people are already working on breaking into them.

If its that important/expensive I dont want it on my stoop, I ship to the office or use an Amazon locker.
So no I would never do this.

No way. I had a problem with a fed ex driver once before. I don't know them and I would never give access to a stranger.

Re: Amazon Key?
Not a chance. We have locks and security to keep people out, not let them in. This is a bad idea.

Where are the Amazon lockers? I was always curious about this. How does that work?

Around me (western suffolk) they are in some speedway gas stations and 7-11s. There are many locker locations on Long Island now, so driving between work and home there is always a location to send to.
You have your order sent there, you get an email when it arrives and then scan barcode when you get there to unlock the locker and get your stuff.

I think the biggest one in Suffolk is at Stony Brook, in the campus library. It takes forever to make your way through the campus, park and walk to the library its not worth the hassle unless you're a student IMO.

No I wouldn't allow anyone access to my house but as another poster said if it could work with a garage I would be more open to that. Especially during the holidays.

Yeah that is kind of a shittyy place for it IMO. It should be more easily accessible from the road

Hell No

Amazon Key delivery people only have access to the door with the camera on it, recorded footage of them that you can watch in real time, and registration and interaction with the Amazon server.
Your house is currently protected by thin pieces of glass that take a tiny stone to break.
I'm not looking to change anyone's opinion either way, and I have no vested interest in whether or not this test is successful. I just want to point out that I don't believe it's as dangerous as people think.
And so many people have glass front doors and huge windows that passer-bys can already case most of your house as much as a delivery person with Amazon Key can do.
Our houses are already a lot more vulnerable than any of us want to admit.
