Am I too big?

I've been asked a couple times if I'm having twins, was told (yet again) that I'm carrying big, and it doesn't help that I gained 40lbs.

Honestly, at 31 weeks, am I really that big? Should I be smaller? Doctor hasn't said anything and baby is measuring on target. Why is everyone making comments about how big I'm carrying?



Do I look like I'm ready to pop any day??? I thought I was normal lol....or do people just have no concept of pregnancy size?

people have no concept! you don't look abnormally huge to me at all. I love your bump!

Whoever is saying things like that to you is an asshole. You look wonderful. You were very thin and fit to begin with, so don't worry about the weight gain. I gained 62 lbs. with both of my boys and lost it all each time.

I think you look great. My friend asked me just today if I'm sure i'm not carrying twins bc my stomach is "huge"... and i'm just 19 weeks!! People are annoying.

No, you aren't too big. Peoples mouths are too big. As long as your Dr isnt concernd you shouldnt be and no one else shoud either. And where did you gain 40 lbs?? You look great! It must be all in your belly.

Thank you for the reassurance. I really needed it. i was worried that I'm huge and the baby isn't healthy because of that. I've just been doing what I have to do- eat when I'm hungry and let my body do its thing (like Ang said- being as big as the baby needs me to be), but I can't help but wonder if multiple people say these things maybe there is truth to them. I just worry too much so now I'm worrying that I'm too big and the baby won't be healthy or be too big.

You look like a perfectly normal 31 week pregnant woman...People are insane-don't listen to them!!

i think people are just used to seeing you be so tiny so their concept of how you should look pregnant is skewed. don't pay attention - you look great and your bump looks perfect!

if something was wrong, your doctor would tell you

You definitely don't look too big. People are morons if they are rude enough to say that to you. I think people are just shocked shocked sometimes at how big pregnant bellies really get. I know I can't believe how big mine is, but I don't worry that it's too big bc I know it will get as big as it needs to to allow my baby to grow. It doesn't help that by around 34 weeks my dad was swearing that I was due any day (thanks dad) and that last night while eating w my in laws, FIL tried to offer me more food and said 'Youre eating for 3 now' Um, thanks, but I'm not carrying twins so I'm only eating for 2 which he knows obviously. I guess to him I really looks that big though.

When I was about 16 weeks, the lady at the supermarket said "you must be having a boy" (I had a ) and "you must be ready to go any minute now"

I wanted to climb over the grocery belt and pop her but instead I said that I was actually due in Feb and THANKS SO MUCH!!

You look great. Definitely all belly. I've been told my entire pregnancy that I'm big but it's all in the belly.

No, you are not too big. I have seen moms on LIF who have gained 60 lbs with their pregnancies and still looked fantastic. Sure 60 lbs is a lot to gain, but some of those girls were super tiny and the weight gain was so drastic for them. But they had no issues, their babies were healthy, and they lost all the weight in time. So 40 lbs is nothing to sweat about!

FWIW, I'm only 20 weeks, and am about as big as you are now (2nd pregnancy).

I think a lot of the comments are out of sheer stupidity.

You look great! People sometimes do not know what they are saying. I swear I had every comment made to me with DS the first time around. This time I just walk away. Don't let them get you down- you look great and baby is doing great that's all that matters.

People are IDIOTS! You look great. Ignore them. They have no idea what they're talking about and probably just feel the need to make a comment about you being pregnant. You don't look big to me, you look healthy and pregnant. Tell them they look big too.

Seriously I hate people's comments about pregnancy! someone told me the other day my face is getting fuller. Geez thanks-I need you to make me feel bad!

In my opinion you look GREAT!! You're ALL belly! I have no idea where you gained 40lbs because you're not too big AT ALL!! Don't pay those people any attention. You're gaining what you need for the baby! and since you were thin to begin with maybe the belly just looks big compared to your frame? If your doctor hasn't said anything; then the weight gain should be ok. And the belly size is perfectly fine!

Don't worry about what others say. I am cuurently 28 weeks and had people asking at 25 if I was pregnant with twins. But I also have people that know me telling me I look tiny and don't belive I have already gained 30 lbs.

People are morons! As long as you and the baby are healthy your fine.

I don't know why but I think people LOVE to say "are you sure it's not twins?" I feel like that's a standard pregnancy joke or something. People think they are original and hilarious.

you look fantastic! I agree with the pp that you were so thin before that seeing a big (adorable) belly on you is a drastic change.
