I used to have that problem until I found the right product for my hair, now its easy, and comes out pretty close to the way the salon does it. I brush it out after my shower, put some product in, brush it again, and start to blow it before it starts to dry, once it starts air drying on its own, its a lost cause

I have no skills whatsoever. My husband busted a gut watching me trying to blow it out.

Hey! I didn't give permission to post my picture!! Chat Icon

I used to be able to but I don't know if I've lost my talent, my hair has changed with the years or if I'm just so spoiled by using an iron that I don't try hard enough with just the blow dryer.

I want JHS sooooo badly (but kinda feel it would be a waste with the current length of my hair).

I think that is it, the patience for it. It takes me forever...such little sections...it seems neverending.

sidenote: I always wanted to start a thread of natural heads, then what our hair really looks like with products and blow outs added...to let people know that a lot of us aren't wash and go.

I have NO coordination to hold the dryer and brush...one time as a teenager I got a round brush stuck in my hair and my brother had to cut it out!
I have been using this kind of blowdryer from Conair for more than 10 years!

Re: Am I the only dodo bird.....

I really think it takes practice. As someone with very thick, wavy/curly hair, it is much eaiser when I let my hair air dry until it is about 50% (sometimes longer) dry before I actually blow it out. I also use a very large boar's bristle brush.

Re: Am I the only dodo bird.....

I can't do it w/the blow dryer. It just frizz's out horrible. I always section after and go over it with a flat iron......This makes it look amazingly smooth and frizz free. I have a $25 conair flat iron that I use.

Re: Am I the only dodo bird.....

Honestly, it took me a loooooooong time (till I was 27) to figure it out. I have baby fine curly hair, too. For me, the results depend on everything...the shampoo, the brush I use, what I put in it and the weather.

I just kept trying, kept practicing. It took a long time and then when I figured it out, I just kept practicing again. Don't flip your head...that was a huge mistake as well as you HAVE to start wtih semi dry hair, use lots of sections and dry it longer than you expect. Dont' stop too soon.

Another thing...before I start, I pull sections tight with my fingers and dry the underneath and the roots. Then I section off and take a section, brush it and then wrap it around the brush so that I can PULL it tight. That helps a lot.

Again, it took forever to figure it out!

Try googling videos and watch people do it.

Q- get the CHI straightner, the small one. I can straighten my hair in 5minutes. I don't blow it out using a brush I could never figure it out I think I need more arms for thatChat Icon

What I usually do is let it air dry or just blowdry it and then use the CHI.
