Am I supposed to buy lunch for the movers?
Moving company is here to pack up our house. They will be here today and tomorrow. They've been working straight through since this morning and will probably be here late. Do I offer to buy them lunch or will they go do that on their own?
Also, do we tip them?
I've never done this before. LOL

I am not sure about lunch but I would offer drinks and definitely tip them when the job is done.

Yes you should tip them, but you do not need to buy them lunch. But I would offer cold beverages/water.

See, that would annoy me. They made not even appreciate it. I would offer drinks and tip them.

Yes. FEED THEM!!!!!
1. First, its JUST a nice thing to do. They are working their azzez off.
2. It keeps the work moving. Even though they get a lunch break, its better for YOU to have them there, eat and go back to work. If they didn't bring their lunch they have to leave the job.
3. Have snacks, water etc. if they are happy they will do a better job for you.
4. Yes, you must tip (if you think they did a good job) I tipped all my guys on all my moves $50 each.

I would always offer hot/cold bev. I don't feel its my job to buy lunch for them they are getting paid and should be bring food. Tip, if you feel they did a good or if someone really went above and beyond.
I don't believe YOU must TIP. JMO
Again, on this site everyone feels the need to tip the world.

I would never give them options if I WAS paying. They can eat regular pizza no toppings, its free food.

We bought $5 foot longs for our movers - they were SO appreciative because they eat pizza every day. IMO- they worked really hard and were super quick- they deserved lunch and what was another $20 on top of what a move costs to keep them happy?? And yes, we tipped too- not sure how much since DH took care of it- maybe $30-50 each?

I didn't even think to feed them (although we gave them a hefty tip at the end for going above and beyond) but then again, I never think to feed people at their jobs. I have worked in restaurants (yes, more than one and upscale places) where they didn't even feed us.
I just ran into this with a somewhat similar scenario and was totally caught off guard that they people expected to be fed. I don't know when or why this became a think but I hate it because it's just another thing I have to worry about. The people I had to feed recently were actually very picky about it and this went on for weeks. I don't understand why some jobs, where they are free to stop and take a break, get in a car and go buy whatever they want or use a fridge and brown bag it am I expected to buy lunch. Sorry.

When we moved last year we fed our movers. They were freaking awesome and worked there asses off above and beyond.

For friends I pay them to help me move with beer and pizza.
For my last move was to a 4th floor walk up. Beer and pizza does not pay for that. Lol so I hired a moving company. I joked with the guy on the phone saying yeah 4th floor walk up that's why I'm hiring u guys to do it.
I saw how hard the guys worked I tipped them $50 each. The were fast and efficient. And broke a hell of a sweat. They deserved it.

ha, me either. No, I personally wouldnt buy them lunch. IMO, they can take a lunch break like everyone else and either go get their lunch or bring it and eat it on a break.

I would order a few pies and have cold drinks for them plus tip. Can't hurt and maybe they will be extra careful with your stuff.

I personally would not. I'd offer bottled water, drinks, but that's it. When we had our pool and backyard built last year, the guys were here for 6 weeks in the sweltering FL sun. I left a cooler outside with bottled water and drinks. They always brought their own lunch, sat in the shade, ate, and went back to work.

Yes, must be the same company. I get mad every single time I even think of my experience.
