Am I Out of My Mind?
So I absolutly LOVE to bake. I am even thinking of starting a little at home business in which I will bake cupcakes and cookies as favors. Only issue with that, I have one of those mini stoves. I can't even fit a normal cookie sheet into mine. It's sad. LOL.
We rent. We have done a few very inexpensive repairs to the house just to make it more for US. We have been here a year and a half, and planning on being here a few more years as well.
The stove is electric. My BIL said that it would be VERY easy for him to move the wires to the other side of the kitchen (since a normal sized stove wouldn't fit where one is now). We have a decent sized kitchen.
I had an idea of picking up a cheap stove, of normal size...but nothing too crazy priced lol. Have my BIL move the wires in the basement. Then, move the old stove into the basement to store. Now, obviously, we don't know where we are going to be moving when that time finally comes. So lets say the house we move to needs a nicer stove, we'll bring ours. If not, say it comes with a beautiful new stove, then we will leave that bigger stove here. No biggie.
So after all this rambling, do you think I am out of my mind to want to get a bigger stove? I mean, it may just be used for a little while and leave it behind, but it may not. Does this post make any sense?? LOL. I am really thinking of having my BIL come over and set that up for me... but I just want to make sure if I'm crazy or not first HAHAH

you're not risking a ton of money to open a bakery in this economy
you're buying an oven

Just looking to do something on the side since I was laid off from working in IT...now with having a DS, I'm just thinking of everything I love doing. LOL. Just cooking 6 cupcakes at a time will take FOREVER to bake lets say 80! HAHA.

Not out of your mind at all!! Even if you rent, this is your home--and you have to be happy and comfortable in your home.
Just make sure your landlord is ok with this idea!

i would say go for it....
BUT!!
make sure you check behind the existing stove FIRST.... sometimes the walls behind the stove are NOT finished... and if your kitchen is tile, wallpaper, painted... you may not be able to find an exact match.... not to mention if you do.. it will be much cleaner then the rest of the room... so you will have a "clean" spot where the old stove used to be....

I'll give you my stove.
It's been sitting in my shed (watertight) for 2 years but once it's clean I'm sure it will be fine.
It's decent looking - just needs to be cleaned.

i'd say go for it, but definitely check with your landlord first and see what they say
they may even like the idea (a bigger stove means it would attract more interest in the future) and offer to pay some of the cost

I'm soo forgetful to check this board when I come on LOL...
Thanks for all the responses!! I will run it by my landlord, which I'm SURE she will be fine with. She lets us do just about whatever we want to the house...specially since it's all good things and improvements LOL.
Sure, I will take that stove off your hands, IF it's electric! Free is sooo much better then paying, well, anything LOL. Where are you located?? HAHA
Also, we just painted the kitchen about 4 months ago...so I did alraedy move the stove out and paint behind it...everything is all fresh, so I don't need to worry about that. Besides, DH built a little counter thing for the microwave, and that is where we are putting there once the old stove gets moved.
Lastly...yes Kristen..I think you are getting the idea of my FB post LOL
