Am I messing up my 2 mos old bottle schedule?

DS gets 2 bottles of rice cereal a day. One as soon as he wakes up and one before bed. He eats about every 3 hours. He's a little colicky somewhere between 7-11pm. So he'ss get 1 bottle at 8pm and 1 at 11pm. Which bottle should I put the cereal in?

I see some you have "bedtimes" and routines around 7 or 8pm. I know this is for when DS is a little older, but he does STTN. If I give it to him at 11pm, will that mess him up in a few months when I give him his last bottle around 8ish? I dont want him to keep waking up around then bc he's used to eating. KWIM? I hope this makes sense the way I worded it.

I would give it to him in the 11 bottle to give him a full belly to sleep a long restful night. WHen you start weening that bottle by making it earlier continue giving it in the "last" bottle of the day. I never gave cereal in a bottle I gave it in food...but a full baby is a good sleeping baby!!!

Re: Am I messing up my 2 mos old bottle schedule?

This doesn't answer your question, but our DCs are almost the same age so I read your posts a lot to see what's next for me :) Anyway, DD was also going down at 11 initially and sleeping until 5 - that's how she started sleeping through the night - I think very similar to your DS - and I noticed not long after she started doing that she was getting cranky/colicky earlier but I was afraid to push up her bedtime to when she seemed tired because I didn't want to push up her waketime, KWIM. Anyway, my only friend with kids who's also practically a sleep expert - she read so much more on sleep than I have time or energy for - strongly suggested I push up her bedtime on the sleep begets sleep theory. The first couple of nights DD got up earlier - like 3:30 am Chat Icon and I was really regretting what I had done, but now was no longer able to "keep her up" until 11 - she just wouldn't do it - but then like magic, she started sleeping from 9 to 5 almost every night Chat Icon In fact, the last couple of nights, 9 seems late - she seems tired earlier - so I'm going to slowly work my way back to 8 and see how it goes. I know it's dangerous to mess with a good thing when it comes to sleep but just a thought - maybe it'll help you get rid of his colicky time period - he could just be getting overtired.

As for the bottle, I haven't done rice cereal yet but DD's last bottle has extra oz which she heartily takes before going down and she def will not eat extra at earlier meals so I agree with the PP that I'd keep the rice in the last bottle, whenever that may be.
