Am I insane?
I went to the OB this am to follow up on a chemical I had on Thanksgiving. She wants me to wait until I have a "normal period" to start trying again. But the day I started bleeding the ER checked my beta and it was already zero.
The reason she wants me to wait is to be sure that if I get a positive test next time it will be from a new pregnancy and not leftover from my chemical. But considering that my beta was already zero when my last period started, I kind of want to consider that a normal period and keep trying this month.
Soooo....would it be terrible if I ignored my doctor's advice? I know a lot of people on here got the go ahead to keep trying right away after a chemical.

Re: Am I insane?
I would try right away, I wouldn't personally wait. there are tons of women who have chemicals and don't even know it..if you feel ok go for it! A lot of times doctors want women to wait more for emotional reasons or for dating the pregnancy correctly, but I know two women who tried right after a chemical and early miscarriage and conceived first try with no problems. HTH! (this is coming from the girl who tried one cycle after surgery from ectopic and got pg! LOL) Go for it!!

the chemical bleed is not a normal AF, its still a miscarriage bleed, even if your beta is 0, your body still is expelling whatever didn't implant.
as far as waiting or not - to be honest if your beta was low to begin with it probably doesn't matter. some doctors want you to wait because of inflammation in the uterus cause/effect by a failed implantation attempt (causing chemical results). so there are legitimate reasons to wait, but there are also many doctors that won't tell you to wait. its up to you with your particular situation how comfortable you feel not following your doctors advice. every situation is different.

Re: Am I insane?
I got pg the cycle right after my second chemical, and everything was fine. So I think it's ok to try.

Re: Am I insane?
I don't think you're insane at all. If that's the only reason she gave and not something physical then I would probably try again too!
I just went through a chemical as well and am going to see an RE next week, and I'm still thinking about trying this cycle anyway.

Re: Am I insane?
Oh boy.. I agree that your uterus may need recovery- that's why she would want you to wait BUT if your beta was so low, it probably was a very early miscarriage. If I was in your shoes, I would not wait and just keep going. I personally have had many experiences with drs who have made mistakes or are just following protocol from a book and not individualizing a patients care. Not to say that is your Dr, but this is why I would try this cycle. Good luck!!
