Am I a bad wife? Xmas present related
DH and I have a 19 month old and a DC on the way. We decided initially "no gifts" for xmas but then we switched to a nominal $100 range gift.
I went a little over and bought sweaters, shoes and created albums of our Italy trip. He went and bought a $3000 watch!!!
yes...i should be grateful....but I reacted badly
1. he went against our agreement 2. i am by no means a watch person (and he knows this). I would have rathered 4 Nikon D90's!!
So..we returned the watch. Am I mean? I know he meant well, but I was really mad

No, I'd have done the same thing. It would have sat in my jewelry box.
I made DH return the first engagement ring he got me - I felt like it was too big for me. And I never wear the second one, I still feel like it's too big and obnoxious looking.

I would have done the same thing and returned the watch. While it was thoughtful, it wasn't necessary and I'm sure you have other things to spend $3000 on

I think you did the right thing and it's not mean. It's wasteful to keep a watch that expensive if you dont really want it or could use the $ for other things. I would have done the same.

my thoughts exactly!!!! We also had a $100 limit which I stayed close to. He spent much more than that and keeps saying "because you deserve it". I appreciate it, but I really don't want the bill for it and I would rather have put the $$ to other use
