Am I a bad mom???
If I dont have DD's room ready until a couple months after she gets here? We jsut moved in to our new home and I dont think I will have the money to get all of her furniture and paint the room in 2 months.
She will sleep in her bassinett in DH and I's room for the first couple of months anyway b/c i am breastfeeding.

No you aren;t a bad mom! If she won't be sleeping in there, it doesn;t matter. Plus she won't know the difference

Re: Am I a bad mom???
I hate to bring in my culture again for the second time today, but it is VERY common that Jewish mothers do not bring anything for a nursery into the home until and after the child is born. We have SOME things but they are not in her room. all we are doing is painting. The furniture is in , but in storage until the store delivers it. They will have it in and assembled the day we ask for it. I assure you that you are not a bad mother. If by not having a nursery ready when your DC comes home makes you one, then I am too.

"All you need is love"
remember that; the rest is superficial and materialistic ' yes, of course we all want everything to be perfect, but that is not what makes a good mom

Re: Am I a bad mom???
In the jewish religion there is a superstition that you can't bring anything into the house before the baby is born including furniture...so basically that makes me and all my jewish friends bad mom's bc we won't get the baby's furniture until after the baby is born.... So no you're not a bad mom

Re: Am I a bad mom???
There is so much to do in a new house...you are NOT a bad mom for not having the room ready. It took us nearly a year to get our house mostly settled and I still have lots of boxes that need to be unpacked.

Echo: What would she care?
Will you love her, feed her, keep her warm, protect her and care for her?
Well then... there's your answer.
So many mothers make do with so much less and are still good mothers... so don't worry about the small stuff

Re: Am I a bad mom???
thanks ladies i feel so much better. She will have everything she needs except for her room ready and you are right she is not going to notice the difference anyway.
I am so silly sometimes.

Re: Am I a bad mom???
You are not a bad mom. Sometimes things cannot be perfectly planned.
We moved into our new home on May 3rd - I went into labor on May 8th.
When I got home from the hospital DS's room was still a bit of a mess. I think he was about 5 weeks old before we finally got all fixed up. In the meantime he slept in a basinett/playpen in our bedroom.
