ALWAYS fight for what's rightfully yours!
My mom worked for Macy's over the Holiday season. (she's retired, and figured this would get her out of the house, plus give her some extra spending $$)
Her assignment was supposed to end on 12/28, but since my grandmother (her mother) passed away the day after Christmas - she couldn't work those last 2 days. (she flew out to Puerto Rico the next day - 12/27)
Anyway, Macy's refused to give my mom the bonus she was promised ($400) - because they said she didn't finish out the season. TWO DAYS!!!! She never missed a day, and was never late!!!!
She even brought in a copy of my grandmothers death certificate, AND her boarding passes from her travel - she called constantly trying to get someone to help her! NOTHING!
Human Resources said there was nothing they could do!! 
fast forward to last week. mom calls me all upset that they STILL won't give her the $$. SO, I emailed Macy's Corporate, explained the whole situation, and how I felt it was extremely unfair, given the circumstances surrounding my mom's absence those last 2 days of her assignment. I told them that if she didn't hear from someone soon, that we would have no other choice but to contact any media outlet that would listen..."Shame on You", "7 on Your Side"...etc etc...
guess what? Mom got a call today from Macy's H.R. - she can pick up her check tomorrow!!!!!!   
Moral to the story: ALWAYS fight for what you deserve!

knowing the situation- I am shocked they acted that way
but then again they kicked me out of the office after I resigned (with pay or I would have fought!)
