allergy meds and ttc
AF just left so let the baby making begin. I'm guessing I should lay off my allergy meds and suffer since I'm assuming they dry EVERYTHING out. DH says I should keep taking them so I don't suffer. Opinions?

Re: allergy meds and ttc
I didn't know this! Can you please elaborate? (I'm new to TTC!)
I have been taking allergy meds and I don't think I can function without them. I would say take them on the days when its really bad. I know when the pollen levels are very high I'm just miserable even with the allergy meds. And I'm sure we still have another few weeks of allergy season...so I would just try to take it on the days when the pollen levels are high.
I think next week its supposed to rain all week so you won't need it then.

Re: allergy meds and ttc
Im pg and can take Claritin (not the D). Its a category B drug which mean it hasnt been show harm to a fetus.....although not as conclusively as a category A, which are completely safe. My OB said its fine to take though.

Re: allergy meds and ttc
Any category B is okay to take while you are pregnant. I would assume before you get your BFP you can take anything safely, but when you get your BFP you should ask your doc maybe he can confirm the one you take is a Cat B or give you another one. The only meds that wil dry up is the one with the D in it. If you are afraid of that then stay away from anything with a Digongestion(spell) in it or use other aids to balance out your cm.

Zyrtec is a category B. I tell my patients to take that. Allegra is a C, so I advise against that. But if allergies are that bad my recommendation is to talk to your primary care and see what they do for their pregnant patients with allergies.

Re: allergy meds and ttc
That's a good question! I think everything is ok during TTC but I didn't think about the drying out part. My allergies are terrible and I'm taking Allegra-D 2x a day....no wonder I am constantly thirsty!!
