Allergies or cold?

DS started coughing out of nowhere a week ago without any other symptoms. Then after a couple of days he got a runny nose. And he still has both every day with the cough being worse at night. No fever. I originally thought it was a cold because I don't normally associate allergies with a cough. But it's been this long and neither me or DH have caught it. Does this sound like it could be allergies? I'm slightly concerned just because we have a cat and I'm hoping DS isn't becoming allergic to him. TIA!

Allergies or cold?

could be generic allergies.

AJ's room is a no-cat room. Doesn't mean fur doesnt get there from us waking in and out but no cat is allowed in her room (we have two and yes, I'm allergic LOL).

could be a little cold. Super young is hard to figure either way.

You could TRY to limit cat exposure and have a no cat environment (Quarantine) but just because the baby gets better two days later doesnt really point to the cat and just because the baby gets 'runny again' after re-exposure also doesn't point back to the cat.

For me, if the cats are too much, I need to shower (wash away the dander - which is REALLY want the allergy is trigged by) and sit in a cat free room for a bit. Hubby will then vacuum the house, change the air filter and wipe all surfaces down. that's usually enough to 'clean out' for me. My allergy is bad enough to make my eyes get bumps all along and under my eyes up to the temples and even over my brows. I can't open my eyes for the pain. and my nose feels like its being pinched off at the bridge.

Luckily Cats are only my secondary allergy.
My primary allergic reaction is to dust, if there's too much dust or just enough then too much cat dander, I'm a goner! LOL

Good Luck!

Its probably just some virus that's been going around. My DS just got over his cold and it was the same exact symptoms. It took him a little over a week to get over it.

I've been keeping the humidifier on and that seemed to help.
