alittle annoyed
So I just found out I am pg (on our own... battled IF with our DD) and we were so excited. Rather than wait 12 weeks, hide the fact that I wasnt drinking over the summer, we decided to tell immediate family only... Well, when we tell people they are so happy, they figured... but then they don't realize how early I am... They thought I was further along... which just makes me feel fat. I know I gained some weight before I got pg... but I guess I gained enough for people to think I was pg...
Now I just feel like I am going to be huge this pregnancy...
OK, vent over...

Re: alittle annoyed
Ahhh that's frustrating.. I wish people wouldn't comment on weight. When I was out with my DH the other night I overheard this woman telling her husband I must be having a girl but I haven't dropped yet. umm I wanted to be like....... Lady he's a boy and I won't be dropping for like another 10wks
Sorry you had to deal with those comments. I'm sure people meant no harm, even though its dumb!

Re: alittle annoyed
People do not think before they speak, and they think pregnant people magically aren't self conscious about their weight and body image. People at work will say things to me like "Are you sure it's only one???" or "Wow you grew this weekend". I just ignore them at this point.

Re: alittle annoyed
I think people assume that if you're pregnant that you automatically must look pregnant too even if you look like your normal self. Don't worry about it, I'm sure you look great.
Congrats BTW!

Re: alittle annoyed
I have mentioned this before, but you can't win either way. You will either get comments about being big or you will get comments where people don't realize the extra weight you are carrying around is from being pregnant.
I had someone tell me at 25w pregnant that I looked like I was getting thick. (Dropped his jaw when i told him i was 6 months pregnant) At 26w someone asked me if my baby was ok because I didn't look big enough for 26w.
The comments never end. And on top of that you never quite dwell on the people who say you look like you are glowing or that you look great.
Congrats!!! Happy and healthy.

Are you sure they meant it based in your size? Did you tell them you had news and maybe they just meant they "figured" that's what the news was going to be?
