Alcohol ?s

I know a man's alcohol comsumption hurts sperm count but was anyone told by their OBGYN that alcohol consumption by the father can hurt the child? DH doesn't drink unless it's socially. So he never has a beer or wine with dinner. But when he drinks socially, he doesn't have just 1 or 2. I'm not concerned about what that is doing to this sperm count but I'm wondering if it is affecting the quality of sperm and then the healthiness of our child (if our child is conceived with the imperfect sperm).

Am I over thinking this?

Second, has anyone been told about drinking while they are TTC? I just figured that I would stop drinking once I find out I'm pregnant. Am I supposed to cut back in the event that I'm pregnant and don't know it? I don't drink daily but I do it socially. I don't even socialize that much but when I do I may have 4-5 drinks.

I would ask my OBGYN this but I feel like any MD will tell you that alchol is bad, whether you are TTC or not..lol

Re: Alcohol ?s

A lot of people say drink until its pink (meaning bfp) I personally didn't stop drinking but cut down on how much I would have a dinner parties. Figured it would be like weening myself off instead of going cold turkey lol. Plus you don't share anything with the baby until later on so any 2ww drinking because u don't know your pregnant is fine. Dh did cut back on drinking. He usually drank a beer at nigh with dinner and I asked him to cut back to 2-3 a week. It was mostly to have him stay more hydrated cuz dehydration can effect the consistency of sperm not the sperm itself. If dh is a heavy drinker I think it may effect the quality of sperm but otherwise if there are no other factors u should be fine

Alcohol ?s

I tried for 2 years for DS. I drank. I stopped drinking. It didn't make a difference. The month I got my BFP I drank up until I got a positive test.
