A few years back there were several posts about problems with home alarms and Optimum Voice, when modems went down due to periodic maintenance or re-boots. I tried searching but didn't see any recent problems. Has anyone with Optimum Voice had problems lately with their home alarms triggering due to Optimum?

We're considering changing because we're fed up with Verizon. No phone service since Friday night, the soonest they would come was this afternoon. They said it's not the lines, it's inside, it's registering phone off the hook but they've had us go through a series of exercises, including hooking up a phone to the box outside to show the signal is coming to the house, and unplugging every phone jack in the house then plug one back in to test for the "off the hook" problem. Today, DH took the afternoon off to be here between 1:00 and 6:00. He arrives a little before one, sees a Verizon truck two doors down, and when he pulls into the drive it takes off. He later calls Verizon and is told the guy is working on the lines and will call DH's cell or knock on the door when he's done to confirm the phone is working. He calls shortly before 6:00 and is told the technician reported in that he couldn't find any problem and everything seems to be fine. Never came to the door or called, never confirmed that we had phone service, despite the fact that we'd already shown that the problem was in the house, not outside. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon These are the same idiot technicians that had to come back 5 times over 5 weeks when we moved in, just to get the phone service hooked up in the first place. The last guy fixed it in 5 minutes, the first 4 were clueless. We were ready to change to FIOS for other resons, now I hate Cablevision and Verizon!!!
