Age that DC really enjoyed classes?

DD and I went to a Mommy and Me trial class on Saturday. I loved it! Chat Icon It was DD's nap time so she wasn't as loud and active as she usually is. She was wide eyed, taking it all in and sometimes smiling. I am signing her up for it, because I think it SHOULD be fun when she gets used to it.

Is this a normal reaction for DC at almost 8 months old? Did I make the right choice in signing her up?

PS, took her to church the next morning and Miss Shy - SAAAAANGGGG for the entire mass. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Age that DC really enjoyed classes?

I took DS to a music class at 6m, he loves music, it wasn't his nap and he just stared at everything in awe the first few times. But I noticed as soon as he started to get more mobile, he was more interested in cruising/crawling around the classroom than actually doing anything that was part of the class.

He plays better in an unstructured environment, I think all babies are different, and if yours enjoys it, I see no harm in doing it all all!

I signed DS up when he turned 6 months old. He was the same way in the beginning, he mostly observed instead of participating. When he turned 10 months old he came out of his shell and started really enjoying himself. He's a year old now and he starts smiling as soon as we pull into the parking lot. Give it some time, she'll warm up to it!

I started at 10 months and my son wasn't really into it, we went back at 17 and he loved it.

Give it a try, it will probably take her a few sessions, but she'll love it.

Re: Age that DC really enjoyed classes?

I would keep going. If she is anything like DS who is very nosey and curious then she will just need time to take it all in. DS has been going to mommy and me since 3 months and loves it. He is 9.5 months and anytime we go somewhere new he stares and doesnt interact with us because he is too busy looking at everything. Yesterday in a store while online he stared at these kids playing in the lane next to us the entire time. I called his name 20 times and he ignored me Chat Icon

Thanks!

DD is VERY nosy. I was feeding her in the mall food court - and this little boy sat at the table next to us and I laughed and said "LUNCH IS OVER" b/c that was it, she was too concerned with him to take another bite! LOL

DS still does this during music class and he's been going for months. He is definitely an observer. He watches his "teacher" and the other kids closely. I know he's having a great time b/c his feet "go". I bought some musical instruments for home and he's thrilled with them. A similar thing happened during safe-t-swim. He just lounged in the pool and watched the teacher. At home he's a mad man in the tub. Hey even my old third graders acted like totally different kids at school than homeChat Icon

We've been taking classes since he was a baby and there was never one that he didn't love. There have been issues with nap time once in a while, though.

DD just started swimming lessons a month ago at 6 months. she definitely loves being in the water, but i don't think she gets it yet. i will enroll her again for another session then probably switch to a gymboree type class around 9/10 months when she becomes more mobile.
