After Misscarriage when can you try

So the whole bleeding nad miscarriage process started on 1/30. Im going to doctor today i dont k now what they will do but i assume draw more blood. Last night was the worst nite ever I passed sooo much sorry for TMI stuff it freaked me out. DH is so supportive and keeps telling me nott to worry we can try again. Do i have to wait 2 cycles.. or does that depend if i have a D&C

I think it depends on how far along you are when you miscarry and there may be other factors that would have a doctor telling a person to wait one or two cycles. Some doctors may monitor your blood until your levels are at zero and then make you wait one cycle. I am sorry you are going through this. I know how you feel.Chat Icon

Re: After Misscarriage when can you try

Every doctor varies. Some say if you are early, you don't need to wait other say wait three cycles. It also depends on whether or not it happens nautrally or you need a d/c.

My HCG levels went back to zero almost immediately after my natural miscarriage.

Again, I am so sorry. I had this happen to me twice in the past six months. After I got my period, I let that one month go by and then tried the next month, which is this month for me. I did have a heavier period. My doctor had told me once I got my period I could try, but I let a month go by, as it was too much for me. FM if you need to talk. Chat Icon

Re: After Misscarriage when can you try

It really depends on what your doctor says.

I was told by different doctors, one said wait 2-3 cycles, one said wait 3 months, one said wait 6 months. This was after a birth and they told me that my uterus was back to normal at 6 weeks.

I then asked the doctor IF I were to get pregnant right away, would it be bad. He grinned and said, well, try to wait, but if it happens, there is no greater risk to your baby if you had waited.

We got pregnant after I stopped bleeding and my 1st cycle.

Good luck and if you have any questions, let me know.

Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage last year, and it was natural. You said you passed a lot of clots...you may have passed the fetus on your own, which I did. They did a sonogram to find out if it was completely gone, and luckily it was, so I didnt have to have a D&C. I waited for one period to come, and then I was pregnant that next cycle and went on to have a healthly little boy. Most drs will tell you to wait one cycle at least, but I know there are lots of girls here who have gotten pregnant right after their miscarriage and it has been fine. Best of luck to you!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: After Misscarriage when can you try

I had two m/c's in the last year, one at 5 weeks and the other at almost 8 weeks. With both I waited one cycle to try again, however after my last m/c in July my cycles still haven't regulated, before I was always a 25-28 day cycle, now my cycles have been ranging from 14 days to 54 days, needless to say I have an appt. with my gyno on the 11th to find out what's going on.

My doctor had me go for an exam internal exam when I started bleeding so see if my cervix was opened or closed. This indicated whether or not i would need a d/c. SHe also suggested that if I did not pass everything naturally and my blood levels did not go back to zero she would schedule a sonogram. This was not necessary for me although some doctors do schedule a sonogram to see that your uterus goes back to normal.

Re: After Misscarriage when can you try

I think it depends on how far along you were and if you had a d/c or not and what you MD says. I had a misscarriage in November 8 weeks and did not have a d/c . My Dr. wanted me to wait at least 2 cycles to get my hormone levels back down and let my uterine linning grow more and gove my body some time to heal mentally and physically. I'm waiting an extra month because I'm not quite ready yet.

This is a decision that needs to be made by you, your DH and your DR.

Re: After Misscarriage when can you try

At the very least your doctor should be monitoring your beta levels until they go back down to zero. Unfortunately, as to how long the bleeding lasts - it varies with each woman.

For myself, I miscarried naturally around 7 weeks. Bled only a few days. I went in for a follow-up with my doctor two weeks later, and he told me to wait 2-3 cycles.

Unbeknownst to either him or myself, when he told me that, I was already pregnant again.

So, it is possible to get pregnant right away, and to carry a successful pregnancy, but you really need to make sure you are mentally ready, and make sure there are no complications with your miscarriage. Make sure that your doctors monitor you properly

It depends on what the doctor says. For me I bled for 37 days but that is not normal. I did ovulate during that time though. Most say to wait at least one cycle. 3 if you have a d and c. But plenty of people try again right away and don't wait for a natural AF. And they are fine. It is up to you. Trying again can be a hard process emotionally. I hope you are okay. I too naturally miscarried at 8 weeks and was told to wait 2-3 cycles. I bled for a few weeks and then got AF and got pregnant again on my 3 cycle.

I also bled about 30 days. This has happened to me 3 times. Statistically, it was probably a fluke and you will go on to have a healthy pregnancy. I have always waited one cycle. Good luck

Re: After Misscarriage when can you try

Thank you everyone for the feedback. Im hanging in there needless to say im in an extrememe amount of pain. I went to the doctor yesturday and the internal sono showed that things are progressing as they should and i have lower lining of the uterus left to rid of . so it is all sitting at the bottom. Mentally i am a mess and part of me wants to jump up and start again, then part of me wants to wait because i dont want to mess up anything again. I will prolly wait at least 2 cycles as that will put me at my 1 yr anniversary adn we will be settled in our new home. I understand that it happens for a reason.. i just dont understand how and y. thank you again

Re: After Misscarriage when can you try

I just had my D&C, and my doctor told me that I will get my cycle back in about 4 weeks. So I would say that it would take about 2 months to get your cycyle in order and keep track again. Lots of Luck!
