Yes, usually whoever is on call is the one to deliver.
But it's funny..I had no idea how LITTLE the doctor is involved until the very end. Your doctor will check on you once in a while but isn't really involved until pushing begins. The nurses do the majority of everything and they were so wonderful!! I loved the nurse I had, she was so warm and cheering me on..she even cried when DS was born, it was very sweet.
I would not worry about the doctor too much..I know I did and realize now it wasn't a big deal.
Ok that got me choked up.

I know for my doctor they make me meet with both the doctors in the office for my appointments so that if one is going to be out I am familiar with the other.

Typically whatever Dr. is on call will be the Dr. delivering your baby.
I wouldn't stress about it. I had a scheduled induction and my Dr. knew she wouldn't be on call that day (she was actually not on the call schedule at all that week), but I had to deliver DD at 39 weeks. You will not see the Dr. once you go into labor until the baby is crowning. The Dr. that delivered DD came in after I had already been pushing for 25 minutes (I only pushed for 40 minutes).
oh really? i didnt even know that. so its just all nurses around you????
Yup. The doctor comes into to check you every so often but is usually delivering other babies while you're laboring.
My doctors switched shifts so I had 2 doctors (one in the morning to afternoon; the other afternoon to evening).
