? about Spinal Muscular Atrophy testing
Was it routine to be tested to see if you are a carrier for spinal muscular atrophy?
Somone in my family just found out they are a carrier for it so I'm wondering if I was tested for it when I was pregnant with Haley.
Were you tested? Or you're not sure.
I went to South Bay if that helps.

I was tested for it. It was the first one on the list I just got back from the lab of genetic tests they ran.

Not tested. Not sure why some doctors test and some do not. Only genetic thing I was tested for was CF. But I do think some people who undergo fertility treatment sometimes are tested.

I was tested, it was part of a genetic workup during my first ob appt.

I was tested also. I did an entire genetic work up at my ob even before I got pregnant.

i got tested for it at the REs office. not sure if they did it bc they also did a recurrent mc panel but I tested positive so they tested dh. thankfully he tested negative

I was the second time - not the first. Those that weren't tested - when did you give birth? I think only recently this has b/c routine. I gave birth in 2007 with DC #1 and was not tested. Gave birth in 2010 to DC #2 and OB said it was a new thing they were tested for - and I was then tested.

It is now part of my OB's routine testing for everyone.

I was tested as one of the 100 blood tests I had when I first got pregnant.
That was a seperate blood test and I remember I had to go back to the lab a different day becuase they only did that test on certain days.

I was tested for it (also a carrier). My OB started making it part of his genetic work-up in May 2008.
