? about e rings

If your e-ring is too big for your finger did you have them make it smaller or did you get that thing that they can put on your ring to make it fit? My ring is pretty lose but I'm affraid to have it made smaller but I don't know how a ring guard or what ever they are called would look on it. If anyone has one and has a pic could you please share with me?

TIA

Re: ? about e rings

i do not have one but here is a pic of one, i believe they come in differant colors to match the ring you have. as for making it your size i would go to a jeweler (a good one) so that it does not change the look of the ringChat Icon

They have these little balls that they can solder into the inside if the ring (the part under your finger).

I just dropped off DH's wedding band b/c it was too big. We're having them add a layer of gold to the inside of the ring, they're making the back of the band thicker so it will fit. Anything else would've looked funny on a man's ring.

My e-ring was too big. I had it resized (it's still too loose in the winter, and too tight in the summer Chat Icon - I can't win). If it ever gets too small, I'll take it off until it fits again. No advice there, sorry.

Re: ? about e rings

Are the balls noticeable on the ring? Is it still comfortable? Also can anyone recommend a place to have it done in Suff? Sorry for so many questions.

My experience was not good.. But I totally recommend the balls .. My ring is platinum and my band is an eternity band with the diamond sitting on top. The quy who did the work never cleaned my ring properly b4 he sottered (SP)? the balls on. So I get the ring back and my stones were BLACK!!! I freaked out.. He should have removed any stones in the area of the heat!! This is what the place I originally bought my ring from told me.. So I had to run into Manhattan and they fixed it all up. She did say they could have burnt all of my stones and the guy who did it was an idiot. Go where you bought the ring even if its not convenient (of course not if its out of state or country) I can recommend the place in Manhattan that fixed mine if you want.

BTW: I am very happy with the balls you do not see them unless you take the ring off and look inside the band..

I am sure people in suffolk have done this and could recommend..

I didn't bother with a ring guard. I don't think they're very reliable, which is why many jewelers switched to the balls.

I had my sized. It never occurred to me that the stones could turn black, although I was told for platinum it was a welding job, not a sodering job. I had it done in the city.

Thats probably why this happened. It should have been welded.. They were a little mom and pop shop in my neighborhood.. Who knew???!!

My e-ring was always too big. I had the ring guard put on it, and it worked great and I love it too because the ring didn't turn while it was on my finger...

When I first got PG, my fingers swelled and for the first time, I was able to take the ring guard off and it fit me great. Chat Icon

After my second child, my fingers became little sausages and now that same e-ring that was once too big, it is now too small, and I can't even wear it Chat Icon I chose to work on losing weight (for health reasons too) over getting the ring made bigger to fit my fat fingers.

I got my ring in Manhattan also and it's also platinum I guess maybe I should take a ride there one day and just have them do it, to be on the safe side. Thanks for your imput Chat Icon

My e-ring was big before the wedding as well but I was planning on getting pregnant right away so I didn't want to do anything until I was done. So I had two more and we are done and the ring is back to being big so I figured it was safe to do something about it now. Did you have the balls put in where you got your ring or did you go some where else? If you went some where else and it was in Suff could you recommend it? It's just if I go to the place I bought mine I don't know when I will acutally get there.

Re: ? about e rings

I got a ring guard. I didn't know what my fingers would be like with the pregnancies, so I didn't want to go to the trouble of having to put the balls in when I could just remove the guard if they swell. When I'm done having kids, I'll get the balls put in.

Re: ? about e rings

I had mine sized.......twice.

The first time they made it smaller and it was too tight, so they did it again and made it a little bigger.

Nothing happened to my ring at all. It's still in perfect condition! Chat Icon

Re: ? about e rings

I would go with the balls. When DH bought my !st ering they were supposed to make it in a size 4. Well turns out they took a size 7 and cut it down. Well needless to say we had a huge battle with the place he bought it from. They refused to give me my money back at first. My ring had to be repaired like7x's. Each time i had to go back to the jewlery Judge and it turned out at one point they swirched a stone on me. It was a mess. Iwas writting a letter to help me Howard when finally they gave us the money back and we went elsewhere. This all happened becasue they cut the ring down and i lost a stone, the ring kept getting damaged.

Moral of the story: Never cut a ring down that much. Have not had one problem with my new e-ring or my wedding band
