A little update on my wishing well request for my shower...
So some of you may remember a few months back I had asked for opinions regarding asking my shower guests to bring a wishing well item that will be donated to a local church outreach center.
If you dont remember, in a nutshell, my aunt works at an outreach center that has lots of mothers who cannot afford the essentials for their baby so twice a year they throw "baby showers' for these women and play games, have some cake, and give them a care package for baby.
So, I was a little nervous asking my guests to bring stuff that I would donate, but apparently everyone thought it was a good idea! When I saw the wishing well at my shower overflowing with gifts it made me feel so happy. I went through all the stuff when I got home and people actually bought some really great things! A few of my mommy guests brought stuff to donate that they couldnt use for their baby (and still in packages, tags, etc.) stuff they couldnt return, or stuff their kids grew out of before they could use it, etc. They all thought this was such a great idea because they knew this stuff would be going to someone who needed it rather than collecting dust in their house or ending up in the garbage. I had three big shopping bags filled with stuff!
So if you are looking for a unique shower wishing well idea, I would recommend doing this. Just make sure whoever is throwing you your shower puts something on the invite explaining where the items will be going. I know churches will accept these donations, but if you want to know where I donated FM me and I will get the information from my aunt.
