A little depressing...

I had really been thinking about my TTC journey in terms of cycles and not months, since everyone knows that a woman gets a period every month DUH (*sarcasm*) but when I actually thought about it today I have actually been trying to 4 months and have only had 2 periods...If my cycle stays like this its gonna take extra long, huh?

Sad...

Re: A little depressing...

i had the same issues. After going off BC, I was only getting AF once every 2+ months so I was really frustrating.

Have your cycles always been so long? Sometimes with long, irregular cycles you may not be ovulating (which was my problem). If it continues, I would probably ask the doctor about it.

Re: A little depressing...

I went off of BCP in January, and had been on it for 8 years. As far as I remember (but lets be honest - I can barely remember yesterday, let alone 8 years ago Chat Icon ) My cycles were always relatively normal, although the bleeding was a bit heavy and lasted usually a whole week.
I did the OPK's the first two cycles and was getting smiley faces...of course that doesn't necessarily mean that I did in fact O. I did get my period about 9-11 days after my smiley though. I saw a doctor two weeks ago and she did say that my cycles were long, but that she wasn't overly concerned about it. She wanted to wait 6 months before we did any testing of any kind. I understand about not wanting to jump the gun and test willy nilly, but the thing that got me was that we wait 6 months to then find out I am not ovulating, which means that I have wasted 6 months. Not that I am not enjoying "getting it on" with DH, its just that it sucks thinking everything is running "all systems go" only to find out that in the last 6 months when you were trying and enduring what you thought was your 2WW that you were never actually ovulating anyway.
Is it common to get Smiley faces on digital OPKs and not actually ovulate?

it can happen. People with PCOS often get positive OPKs but don't actually ovulate. (not saying you have PCOS)

if you don't want to wait the 6 mths you could always get a second opinion from another doctor. hang in there! Chat Icon

Re: A little depressing...

I would go and get a second opinion now or call and make an appt with your dr and start getting the tests now. My periods before bc were a total nightmare. I'd get af for a week be off for a week be on for a week and so and so on. I've been off bc for 5 months now and I've finally regular but I'm still worried about getting preggo bc I supossedly O almost a day after my af end so its not like their is a lot of time for sperm to get in there to do its job. Afgrosses dh out.

Re: A little depressing...

my cycles are long in general. so in a years worth of trying I typically had less chances than someone with a shorter cycle or someone who actually O'd on CD14.
So I know how you feel.

Don't let it get you too down though... just keep you head up and keep on trying. You will get there.

the meds have really helped my cycle at least bc more regular

i just wanted to tell you i know its frustrating but as long as you are ovulating thats a major step and a great chanmce of getting pregnant..the waiting in between cycles r rough and so hard
