I used to double up and make sure you are pulling elastics out around legs and bottom

babies r us carries overnight "pads" that you place inside the diaper for extra protection.

DD is 9 months and we just went up a size from size 3 to 4 for nighttime. she was leaking in 3's. Seems to work so far!
With my son (who was a camel when it came to liquids) we used Huggies Overnight 1 size up and it always contained him.
Also, there really is no reason that a 9 month old should be nursing at all through the night let alone 1-3 times (unless there is a medical condition where he needs the nutrients?)
