Baby Jeremy is here!
I am the proud mommy of Jeremy Nathan. He joined us at 1:50 am on Sunday, September 10.
My labor story is VERY long, so here is the condensed story:
I went into the hospital on Saturday since I had been vomiting for 24 hours. My doctor was afraid I was getting dehydrated so they wanted me to go in to get rehydrated. I ended up getting induced due to developing pre-eclamsia. All pregnancy long, my pressure was perfect! Once they decided to induce me, everything sort of went a little crazy! I was able to get an epidural, thankfully. One doctor tried to break my water twice, unsuccessfully (OUCH!!), then another doctor was able to do it. That hurt a LOT. I only got to about 9 cm when the doctor came in to tell me that the baby wasn't progressing down the birth canal as needed. I could continue on, push for a while, possible put myself and the baby in danger and end up with a c-section or just go in for the c-section then. I agreed to the c-section. The room had already been prepped for me because about 2 hours earlier the babies's heart rate dropped drastically and they started to prep me for an emergency c-section. They were able to bring it back up so they let me progress at that time.
I am actaully glad that I had the c-section because I had a "sticky placeta". The doctors had to take it out in pieces instead of it coming out whole. He explained that if I had delivered vaginally I would have had to have a d&c to make sure it was all out.
Due to the pre-eclamsia, I was put on magnesium (NOT FUN AT ALL!!) to prevent a seizure. Because of this, I wasn't able to nurse the baby right away as I had wanted to do. He was on Formula for the first 36 hours of life. I have since been nursing (he latched on like a champ  ) and he has gained weight. He was born at 7 lbs, 4oz and 21 inches. When we went to the ped on Monday, he was up to 7 lbs, 6 oz! I was soo happy  .
Oh, also, my pediatricians wife had their 3rd baby the day after I had Jeremy. When he came into my room to check in with me, he said if you need anything, we are in Room 11!!
Since I had the section, I stayed until Thursday. The past week at home has been very eventful! He is amazing though so it really is all worth it. I absolutely LOVE being a mommy.
Oh, and to top it all off, the mohel for his Bris calls us up at 10:00 PM on Thursday night to let us know that he is unable to perform his bris (on Sunday) due to the passing of his mother. We then had to get a replacement. We ended up using Rabbi Crone (1-800-Baby-Boy). Even though he was't our first choice, everything went great. Rabbi Crone was able to do it at the same time we had originally planned for so we didn't need to change anything. Somehow, things just worked out!

He's precious. Congratulations!!!
I developed pre-eclamsia late in my pregnancy as well and was induced. The magnesium didn't have much of an affect on me but I hated being hooked up to the IV.
