DS has 9oz for his morning bottle.

Then 1 1/2 hours later - cereal with 3oz formula with fruit.

After morning nap, we give yogurt and offer the bottle he MAYBE drinks 1-2oz. MAYBE.

Then after his afternoon nap (around 4 or so), we give him more cereal with 3oz formula, with 1/2 fruit and 1/2 veggie. He has NO interest in a bottle here, even though we offer it.

Then, at his bedtime bottle, he'll drink anywhere from 6-9oz.

Somewhere in there, we've been giving him yogurt melts or puffs to try (he hasn't taken to them yet). And we give him his Baby Mum Mums, which he loves.

So, between his cereal and bottles, he gets about 21oz of formula in. That's if he doesn't drink from his bottle at any midday feeding.

Should we stop offering it? I HATE dumping full bottles at the end of the day!

Yes I would. Dd dropped her bottles around the same time. She wound up with 2 bottles a day by 10 months and was eating food.

We JUST stopped. I hated throwing bottles away too...plus it was sooooo frustrating trying to force feed them everywhere we go. I asked my ped and he basically said it was fine as long as they are getting 16oz of milk plus 3 meals.

This is our very new schedule that seems to be working.

They wake up about 745

8am- 6oz. bottle

9am- Breakfast / 3T of oatmeal and 2-3 oz of a fruit. offer water

10am - usually nap but sadly I think this is endingChat Icon Chat Icon

12noon - Lunch / 4oz of fruit and 2-4oz of veg some puffs and we also started shreaded cheese (thanks nic!)

offer water sometimes with slices of fruit in it

Somewhere between 2-3 I offer a 8oz. bottle, it varies how much they take.

5pm -Dinner / 3T of cereal 2oz of veg 2oz of meat some fruit and water

then I offer some of what we are eating (trying to introduce table food) tonight I gave them some beans and pasta

730 - 8oz bottle

BED !

When we were at 4 bottles it was bottle, breakfast, bottle, lunch, bottle, dinner, bottle, bed. Each bottle was 7 oz and each meal was 3-4 oz. he also gets puffs, mum mums, yogurt metls.

To drop the bottle I just start his day with breakfast @8, bottle @9:30 immediately followed by nap, lunch @12:30, bottle @2:30/3, dinner @6, bottle at 7:30. He has 1 or 2 more naps in the day, but those times can be a bit sporadic. Meals are all about 4-6 oz, bottle are 7-9 oz.

Try starting the day with a meal instead of bottle and see how it goes!

Re: 8 months old... can we officially drop 1 or both midday bottles?

DD just dropped a bottle at 9 months. Her new schedule is:

6:30am - 7 oz bottle
8am - Breakfast
11am - Lunch
12:30pm - 7 oz bottle
2:30pm - Snack
5pm - Dinner
6:30pm - 7 oz. bottle

Although daycare is going to try to fit her mid-day bottle into the lunch or snack time and I'm just not sure how that's going to work.
