Tipping question
We are having our floors re-done today/tomorrow. There were three guys there today. Our bill is just over $1000. They are sanding, staining and putting on clear coat.
What would you give as a tip?

Re: Tipping question
My DH installs wood floors for a living and never gets a tip. If he gets $10 as a tip he's thrilled.

Re: Tipping question
I wouldn't tip them. They are getting paid to be there.
I do not understand the lets tip everyone that does something for us.
If they did something extra for you while they were there and didnt charge then I might tip.

ITA, My DHs friend installs wood floors and gets paid very well. I never heard of as much tipping before i joined this site. The only people I tip are the ones who make thier living on tips or if someone goes above and beyond.

I wouldn't tip them. I hate the feeling that we have to tip everyone that comes into our home!!

ITA!
The problem with tipping is, nowadays, if you don't tip, you're seen as a cheapskate and might even get substandard service...
I don't want to support that practice and very rarely tip unless to ppl living on tips.
We didn't tip our floor installers ether.

Re: Tipping question
I would not even think to tip for a service I am paying tons of $$ for
If you're around, buying them lunch is a nice gesture, I wouldn't go beyond that though...

Re: Tipping question
I would tip $10-20 especially if they do a good job.

Re: Tipping question
We had two guys laying carpet for us today. DH tipped them both $50 before they did the job - he figured they would work better if the did - they did a great job but I think and hope they would have done the same job regardless....

Re: Tipping question
We tipped $20/guy. They did a great job so we felt they deserved it. They were extremely appreciative.
